1  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / How to use/hide these hideous things... on: September 16, 2009 09:56:36 AM
So, we moved into this house and the garage had been remade into an extra living room/sports room/bar.  Not needing ANY of these, we decided to turn it into an additional bedroom.  We added a wall for a storage area...but the problem remains that this WAS once a garage.

I now have these ugly metal pieces that supported the garage door coming out of the ceiling.  They go through the ceiling and attach to joists in the attic.  To take them out or cut them would be time, labor and perhaps money intensive.  I'd much rather find a way to disguise them.

This is the left one (please don't mind my unpainted wall or doorless closet):

The right one (rocking out to Dora and Boots):

Both (I circled them, the picture made them hard to see for some reason):

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!
2  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Scrapbooking: Discussion and Questions / need ideas and help on: April 09, 2009 01:34:58 PM
Never been a scrapbooker, but my boyfriend recently got promoted police chief.  He's had a bunch of articles in the paper, and on top of that, they've gotten a new squad car (which is a big deal in our town) that he, as chief, has been photoed with and feature on the newspaper.  ANYWAYS, I want to make his a scrapbook with all his newspaper articles and pictures and stuff cuz it really means a lot to him that he's made it this far in his career.

SO, I was wondering if there were any ideas of random things I could add other than the newspaper clippings.  His family was never one for a bunch of pictures, so there aren't a lot of pictures of him from PTI, in fact, in 4 years I've only seen two.

I've got the "POLICE" scrapbook and a bunch of little police related stickers.  But any other ideas would be WONDERFUL (:  Even if they're generic (and not law enforcement related) ideas.
3  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions / Deer Hunting/Camo Room Ideas Needed on: August 23, 2008 10:19:04 AM
We are moving houses, and because my step son's room will be a little smaller in the new house, we decided to go from just "bedroom" to a decorated room.  He loved hunting (deer hunting, the most) so we've decided to go with Deer Hunting and Camo decor.  But I need ideas.  We don't have alot of money to spend, because the rest of the house will need work as well.

We have camo painted clip boards to hang on the wall for his artwork and papers, a deer lamp for his sidetable, bows and arrows to hang on the wall and some antlers to use where we see fit.  Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated, we need all the help we can get.

Thanks Smiley

I got ahold of a couple old vintage style cameras and fell in love.  I would like to put them on shelves to decorate my new living room when we move (in about 7 weeks).  And I came up with the idea of decorating like an old developing studio.  So I'm going to get some boxes and paint them to look old.  Then label them (flash bulbs, film, etc) and stack them on a table.  I've also been taking some artistic black and whites to put on the wall.  I just need some other ideas.  Since this decor is pretty unique, I'm sure I'm going to have to make everything myself.  So...anyone have any ideas for more decor?  Any help is greatly appreciated!
