51  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / My try at a car seat poncho on: November 29, 2008 10:28:28 AM
Here's my go at a car seat poncho for my friends daughter.  It was a little rough, bc I live in LA and she's on the east coast.  And I had never seen one in person, and I don't have a child here the right size to try it on.  Its a little big, but I am pretty happy with the way it turned out.  I couldn't find a zipper I liked, and I wanted to get it to her ASAP, so I went with 2 or 3 pieces of velcro instead.   Grin

54  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Halloween for Christmas on: November 04, 2008 08:56:37 PM
One of my best friends and her husband LOVE Halloween, so I decided to make these halloween themed Christmas decorations for them.  I was originally inspired by the purple bat fabric, and ran from there.  I used McCalls 3777 for the shapes and sizes, but I constructed without use of their instructions.  I dropped them in the mail the other day to ensure they would have them before they bought anything new for the holidays.  I hope they enjoy them as much as I enjoyed making them.

His & hers stockings

Tree skirt, my tree stand is packed away pretty well, so no "action shots"

Wreath to tie it all together.  I don't know whats wrong with my photography skills, it is really round and not ovalish like it looks.

56  California / California: South / New to Area, looking for great craft stores on: November 02, 2008 09:06:35 PM
Just moved to LA from the east coast.  Living in Burbank, but willing to travel for excellent craft stores.  I know where the local Michael's and Joann's are, but I was hoping to find out about more local owned shops.  I sew, make jewelry and greeting cards, but I am always excited to learn about new projects.

59  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Discussion and Questions / Childrens Pattern Sizes vs. premade sizes on: May 28, 2008 08:49:22 PM
I am planning to make dresses for my best friend's little girl.  Only problem is she is 3000 miles away.  I know she is almost 2, and she wears between a size 2 and 3.  Any advice on figuring out what size to sew without waiting for measurements from her mom?  Or any website you could point me towards that might help convert? Undecided
