1  My best projects of 2009! (img-heavy) in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by kayhook on: December 22, 2009 02:28:05 PM
Hello craftsters!  Smiley I took a few months off (well, most of 2009, really) from craftstering, but I'm back now.  Thought I'd share some of my favorite projects I made this year.  Any comments appreciated!

Snow owl amigurumi (based off of http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=36360910)-

Robot hat (it looks weirdly misshapen here, but I promise it fits normal)-

Plastic bag/plarn totebag (it gets so many compliments when I bring it grocery shopping)-

A rainbow yarn bomb-

The story behind this one is that I put it up (in Burlington, VT) when Vermont legislature was trying to legalize gay marriage, and Governor Douglas was fixin' to veto the bill.  The heart-shaped tag on it says "Legalize Love".  Smiley

Striped neckwarmer/cowl-

Team Zissou hat (the stitching's a little hard to see, but those are Z's on there)-

And last but not least, a Dinosaur Scoodie for my friend! Similar to this one- http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=258603. Here she is wearing it and being a dinosaur:

Thanks for looking! Expect a xmas gifts post from me soon as well!

2  Dinosaur scoodie! Mittens! Kermit the frog! in Crochet: Completed Projects by kayhook on: July 21, 2008 09:18:15 PM
I was recently part of the Jim Henson swap, and I ended up crocheting a few things for my partner, including a dinosaur hooded scarf/ scoodie:

..and a Kermit doll:

No, Kermit doesn't have any legs.  Yes, his arms and hands are completely bendable!  I was pretty happy with how he came out.

In non-swap-related news, I crocheted my first pair of mittens ever:

I used Malabrigo worsted wt. merino in "Mariposa".  These make me excited for winter.

kjlutz- WOW awesome package!! I love the costume kit and those mirrormask transfers! (and i still haven't even seen mirrormask!)  Cheesy

Speaking of awesome packages... here are the pictures of the WICKED AWESOME (it's okay, I'm from New England) package from Ms. frankierevolver herself!!!!!  Prepare to fall in love...
First, all of the loot together (mmm, color):

A Labyrinth picture for coloring!! And some rockin' little balls of yarn scraps!:

This totally great Boober totebag with really IMPRESSIVE EMBROIDERY- the picture does not do it justice!:

These gorgeous handspun wool FRAGGLE YARNS with which I am madly in love!! The top one is Boober colors and the bottom one is Wembley!! How perfect are they?!:

This adorable fraggle/muppet-y loop scarf!:

Aaaaand!  Frankie figured out that I've been wanting to learn to spin forEVER and gave me this incredibly awesome and thoughtful spinning kit! It includes GOBLIN KING hand-dyed roving(!!), a top whorl drop spindle, sparkly hand-dyed roving, and instructions for spinning!!!:

Honestly I cannot say thank you enough for all of this, I feel so spoiled and super excited about how interactive everything in this package is. I can't wait to spin/color/crochet/wear it all!  Grin
...
Also, as if this post weren't long and picture-packed enough.. here are a few more photos of the items I sent frankie, just because.

(frankie I hope you don't mind that I tried on your hooded scarf- it was for sizing and photo purposes.  And, y'know, to be a dinosaur......)  Cheesy

5  Birthday presents!! (Somewhat img chubbers.) in Crochet: Completed Projects by kayhook on: June 04, 2008 05:11:14 PM
Today's my best friend's birthday!!! Here are a few of the things I made for her:

This fancy pink clutch/wristlet/purse thing.

...with a crocheted rose on the back.  The rose was made with DMC embroidery floss, the bag with Caron Simply soft.

Close-up of the rose.

A sleeve for her iBook!  Made with Lion brand thick 'n quick, for added computer cushioning.  The purple stripes were made from some furry yarn I picked up at a thrift store.

And finally...

An ear of blue/Indian corn!! Cheesy This probably seems like the most random gift ever, but she and I have had a long-running inside joke about giving each other corn.  She specifically asked for this!

I was going to stuff it with beans but my fabulous roommate had the brilliant idea of stuffing it with CORN KERNELS, thus giving it a new level of awesome.  I also made her a few iPod cosies and a beer cosy (in honor of it being her 21st).  Thank you for looking!!! Any comments are much appreciated.  Smiley

6  Granny Squares Tank and Such! in Crochet: Completed Projects by kayhook on: May 06, 2008 02:43:39 PM
Hi!  I recently made a tank top out of granny squares (no pattern was used):

It looks kind of boxy when laid out flat, but actually fits nicely:

Close-up (ignore the color change- it's just different lighting.):

Annnd then earlier today I was doing some organizing in my bedroom and felt that I needed a better way to store some of my favorite necklaces and pins... so I quickly made this up:

I like it!  Thank you for looking. Smiley

7  My Doily Obsession (img heavy) in Crochet: Completed Projects by kayhook on: April 28, 2008 03:18:17 AM
My first post!  Of course it's of doilies.  Last summer I got really into making them based on patterns in a thread crochet booklet I picked up somewhere.  I've made a lot more, but these are the only ones I've got pictures of.  Too bad.. I wish I could share photos of the doily bookmarks!

The very first doily I ever crocheted- note matching nail polish:

This one was really small, like coaster-sized:

Incomplete colorful (blurry) doily:

...And the finished product, in my friend's home:

Road trips are the perfect crochet time:

Thanks for looking!  Cheesy
