1  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Imagination: The Mind Craft on: January 11, 2012 04:23:33 PM
Hello I am working on collecting imaginary games that people play, either as adults or children.

While this isn't a physical craft, it is a sort of reality-shaper and I don't feel like I am out of line in asking.

So, please tell me, what sort of imaginary games do you play or have you played as a child?
2  FIBER ARTS / Weaving: Discussion and Questions / Reading a complicated pattern on: July 10, 2010 11:23:59 PM
I am trying to set up my loom but I'm befuddled. My pattern in is the Handweaver's Pattern Directory
There are two set up boxes and I don't know which one I'm supposed to do first. There are also two weaving boxes and I'm all D:
Okay, so I know this post doesn't make much sense. I'll get to the book and take a picture of the page asap.

3  FIBER ARTS / Weaving: Discussion and Questions / Selling Woven Goods on: October 02, 2009 11:20:36 AM
I am thinking about trying to sell some stuff on Etsy but I'm afraid it won't sell. Obviously, you don't know until you try, but has anyone had experience selling?
I guess my question is, do people understand woven objects for what they are? They can get pretty pricey, considering the time and yarn involved and it's almost not worth it to sell them.
What do you think?

Has anyone ever attended this event before? I'm so excited but my bank account isn't!

6  FIBER ARTS / Weaving: Discussion and Questions / Help with weaving idea! on: February 18, 2009 05:03:01 PM
I'm weaving on a 4 harness Gilmore for my Fiber Arts class. The assignment is a 3-week project that should be relief or sculptural in quality. I want to use computer wires, the internal parts, the rainbow ones, and I want to create something that is both "homey" and made with these materials but I'm really stuck. Computers have always been a part of my home life and I want to express this.

Any ideas? Embarrassed
7  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Discussion and Questions / Chunky yarn from drop spindle? on: October 23, 2008 08:56:02 PM
As much as I want a spinning wheel (as in with my entire heart) I'm a poor college kid and have to take things one at a time. I just bought hand cards and that set me back quite a bit! (completely worth it)

My question is this, when you spin on a drop spindle, will it always look so chunky? I.E. nothing like the high quality yarns you get from a wheel? Secondly, what techniques do you use to set the twist?

Also, if I am getting spirals in the yarn, am I spinning it too tight or is that ok as long as I take out the kinks before I knit?

Thanks
