1  Thing 1 & thing 2 in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by blossom1044 on: June 04, 2013 03:41:39 AM
It was book day and my boy said he had to be cat in the hat.  we came to compromise and went with thing 1 & thing 2 as I had spare red cotton jersey!

SO the hoodie has thing 1 on front and thing 2 on back.  I also made jogging bottoms because he could wear either as seperates instead of a onzie.

2  It's going to be Super King!!! in Quilting: Completed Projects by blossom1044 on: June 04, 2013 03:28:05 AM
I have never quilted before, but after being inspired on here I decided to have a go.  This is not the finshed article as I am currently deciding on the fabric around the piece top and the backing funds dictated I could not spend and buy all in 1 go.

I loved making it because I could take a few rows and sew them in an hour and put away and come back.  As we all know most sewing projects usually don't lend their time this way.

anyhew, kinda proud of my first go and will do another 1 for sons room!

Oh and to add - yes it will be Super king size when finished!  I think it will be quilted by hand!  Huh  Roll Eyes

4  Party Bags - quick tut added in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by blossom1044 on: June 27, 2011 04:33:29 AM
My son is having a 5th Birthday party.  I am not a fan of plastic party bags.
So since I had some left over fabric and FQ's that were not going to get used - I decided to make my own.  There have been 30+ kids invited.  so far I have made 30 bags.  I have 6 more to finish.  I'm not sure on final numbers yet, but 30 plus will be about right!  all bags are french seamed.  The handles were mostly made out of the same fabric, but were I didn't have enough, I used left over ribbon.  for once hoarding came in use!  Grin
Here are a few pictures, there are more of the individual bags on my gallery

yes they need an iron.  comments and critique are welcome

5  Moshi & Jake (pic heavy) in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by blossom1044 on: June 27, 2011 04:06:53 AM
Group shot

Now the background....
My son at 5 years old (almost) has just discovered Moshi Monsters.  He wanted a soft play one.  So yesterday DS and I made our interpretation of one.  My son did everything except cutting out, pinning and the hand sewing of the head onto the neck.  Yes he used the sewing machine.  For the first time too.  Moshi is made from blue fleece and Felt.  He was a quick make as Ross made him yesterday afternoon.  Though I think my son is very talented.
Here is Moshi

without jacket & his back

A few years ago Ghillie kindly gave me the poppet pattern.  I made Deema the Poppet first.  But DS wanted a boy one.  He was 2 1/2 at the time.  So one Christmas i made Jake, the Giant Poppet.  Jake's hair wasa strip of white faux fur I had lying around.  He is about 2 foot tall!  His clothes are 3 month old baby clothes my son once wore!  Yep he is THAT Big.  He's here now because I forgot to post him a few years ago.
Here is Jake front and back

Taken a while to post.  My son was asked to create a hat for his Easter Parade - thus the Mad Hatter Easter Hat was born.  All done by himself - mad insane and fun all by a 4 1/2 year old!
