Nearly done with my medium. I need to go outside before the hurricane and find what I need to complete it... though, in truth, it may be more accessible AFTER the hurricane. xD But I'd rather work on the project during the storm when the internet will likely be out. xD

I'm in the same boat, but I'm relatively sure that we'll be fine here in Richmond and that I have all of my materials already. I started working on my really time-intensive item today and thought it was kind of funny. I'm anticipating a hurricane and working on an item that is inspired by the stormy Chicago sky. Cheesy

If I were a bird, I would steal all these yarns to weave in my nest!

Glitzy! I love it, and how adorable are those flowers? (*o*)

Wow! My brother has one of those posters and the yarn really is very reminiscent of them. Smiley I really like that!

I have a contribution to this week's Fiber Friday! It just finished drying this morning so I got to take it out to my balcony rocking chair where I did most of my spinning. This is my second spin, and the first time I've tried plying anything! It was ridiculously fun to watch the colors wind together, and I still have two ounces left to play with. Cheesy

The length where pink and orange wrap each other makes me ridiculously happy!

I'm not the only spinner on my balcony, either. Every morning there's a different web in the same corner, courtesy of a good sized mystery spinner.

Happy Friday!

Thank you Belladune! I'd been really confused about how to tell if there's too much twist in my spin, but this really cleared things up!

I looked up colonial knots and they seem interesting! I'll have to give them a try. I know that youtube videos helped me the best when learning french knots, but it still took me a while before I got them down. My friend didn't seem to have any trouble at all! I only had to show her twice and she took off with it! I'm a little jealous, she seems to be a natural stitcher! Ha ha. We made it a crafty knowledge trade, because she's a more advanced knitter than I am and is going to show me how to double knit in exchange. Cheesy

I'm getting really excited about both of my hoops. I queued up a few tv shows I've been interested in getting into on teh Netflix and it's going to be a very crafty weekend for me. Happy stitching everyone!

I got started stitching in earnest last night after I gave an emboidery lesson to my roomie's girlfriend who has been admiring my hoop wall and wanting to learn.

I showed her how to design and transfer a pattern, then backstitch, running stitch, satin stitch and french knots. We did a quick design on Sublime Stitching cocktail napkins. She has the same first and last initials as Mr. Drowning, so she did her full initials and I showed her running stitch on his first and last initials because it seemed easy to do. I think her first attempt at embroidery came out awesome! Hers is on the right, mine is on the left. Smiley

She registered on Craftster last week, so we might just see her in a future hoopla round. Wink

I don't know why but I always imagined the shield bracelet when reading the books as a chain bracelet with shield charms hanging off of it. Ha ha.

Probably because that *is* how the book describes it. In later books the new bracelet is a chain made of 5 (or 3?) braided metals. The one in the tv show is more manly, but I think I like the book one better. I never did like round shields - kite shields always looked more "shield-y" to my eyes. Cheesy

Oh yay! Ha ha, it's nice to know my brain isn't just making things up willy nilly. Now that finals are over I can start re-reading the books in earnest. For Mr. Drownings birthday, I bought him Ghost Story which he is tearing through and giving me all sorts of spoiler alerts.  Roll Eyes

I ordered a couple of supplies that I need and I think I have all my items for AnarchyCupcakes planned out. I ended up scaling back one project because Mr. Drowning was very helpful and pointed out there was no way I'd be able to finish a project like that in a month with the way that I knit, but then I came across a blog post of my partners that pointed to the plan to scale back being perfect anyway. CRYPTIC. :O

This week have been finals for this block of my classes so after tomorrow I'm looking forward to really getting started on my swap projects and re-reading the series!

I already know exactly what I wanna make for my partners! I just have to get the mister to run out and get more printer ink. I'm supposed to be finishing up the editing on my final project for one of my classes, but I spent the morning trawling bubblegum's pinterests instead. Ha ha. I guess I better get my butt to work!
