1  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Baby baseball tee sweater on: August 20, 2008 08:10:14 AM
I decided for my very first sweater I was going to knit a baby sweater for a brand new niece/nephew (we don't know which yet!).  I used this pattern: http://www.canadianliving.com/crafts/knitting/knit_a_baby_baseball_tee_with_mittens.php  At first, knitting the sweater was very quick and easy.  However, I still had to sew the thing up!  I took longer to seam than it did to stinkin' knit the thing!  Ugh!  Anyway, I learned a lot of great stuff.  I learned how to have a nice chained edge on the sides of the knitting pieces from here: http://techknitting.blogspot.com/2007/02/chain-selvedge-aka-slipped-selvedge.html  I also learned how to do a mattress seam from here: http://www.knittinghelp.com/videos/knitting-tips
And finally, I learned how to do an improved SSK from here:http://www.knittinghelp.com/videos/decreases

Well, without further ado, here is my very first sweater:

Comments?  Suggestions for my next sweater?
2  KNITTING / Knitalongs / baby baseball tee with mittens KAL on: July 22, 2008 10:32:16 AM
So I found out several months ago that my brother and sister-in-law are going to be having TWIN baby boys!!! I saw this amazingly cute pattern by Tracy Ullman and I had to try it!

http://www.canadianliving.com/crafts/knitting/knit_a_baby_baseball_tee_with_mittens.php

It's our turn to have their family for Christmas and I thought making two of these sweaters would be a great gift for the new arrivals.  I'm also worried that I might get discouraged seeing that:

A) this is my first time making a piece of clothing

and

B) I'm going to have to make two of them

So, is anyone else interested in this knit-a-long???
3  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Knitted toilet paper and crocheted scented poo on: May 20, 2008 07:04:16 AM
This was for my brother's birthday.  I guess you can say we find all things poop funny.  I was totally inspired by cross stitch ninja's knitted poo: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=239833.0 and mochimochi's knitted toilet paper:  http://mochimochiland.com/weblog/?p=169

My favorite part is that the poo is stuff with rose petal scented beads.  How cool is that?Huh?  the picture of the cat sniffing it just makes me laugh!!!!!!!!
