1  CLOTHING / Shoes: Completed Projects / Re: Wild Things Shoes on: August 17, 2009 02:37:13 PM
I LOVE Where the Wild Things Are! These shoes are just great! This ROCKS!
2  COOKING / Dessert / Unclesamosaurus- the most patriotic dinosaur ever (Piccy pudgy!) on: July 06, 2009 12:07:18 PM
So I'm basically the designated dessert maker for my group of friends, and we were having a 4th of July party this past weekend! Hooray! The thing about my friends is that they're huge dorks too. They stumbled upon a T-rex shaped cake pan my mom had, and the rest was decided without me: I HAD to make them a T-rex cake some time.

The cake inside is a home made (family recipe) chocolate cake and the outside is home made decorator's frosting. My friend and I decorated it together, and had a great time.

On to the pictures!!

The two of us feeling proud of ourselves, and slightly hyper from sugar consumption and each other's company.

3  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: Paper Bag Corset (Piccy pudgy!) on: July 03, 2009 05:09:56 PM
Hey everyone!

I just thought I'd give ya'll an update on the job at Amy's. I didn't end up getting hired (they never even called back! =(  ). BUT! I DID get hired by a place called Cafe Monet (in the same shopping center as the Amy's I applied to). It's a pottery painting studio. Feel free to come in and visit! You can bring food/drinks in while you paint, so ya'll can still have the Craftster Ice Cream Social and come in and have some crafty fun painting!
4  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Decorated Apron for Work on: July 03, 2009 05:06:26 PM
Now I was kind of torn on where to put this since I really didn't recon anything, but I didn't make it either, so I guess it fits better here.

I'm now working at  a pottery painting studio in Austin called Cafe Monet (update the Paper Corset following crowd, I didn't get the job at Amy's, but ya'll can come visit and paint pottery! It's in the same shopping center).
Each employee is given an apron to wear at work and is told to decorate it some how, and make sure to include their name on it. I personally LOVE bears, so I decided something adorable with bears would fit me best. I used puffy t-shirt paint and acrylic paints (mixed with the puff paint) to get the smoother areas.

Oh to pictures:

the whole apron

the boy bear peeking out of my pocket.

I hope you like it! Feel free to stop by and paint at Cafe Monet if you live in Austin!
5  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Re: Kevin the bird from Up on: July 01, 2009 09:55:31 AM
Oh my gosh, that is ADORABLE! I want one!!! I saw the Kevin plush that Disney put out for their merchandise and it was L-A-M-E! They should use YOUR Kevin instead!

You're so brave and ambitions to take on Kevin (in all of her bright colors and fluffy feathers). Oooh you know what'd be cute? If you could find one of those little sound box/speakers they put in toys to make them "talk" and a clip of Kevin's silly bird calls.

These are way cute!! I love the stitching you used. I think I might have to try making a few for my niece and nephew!
7  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Re: Check Out My Big Snake on: June 17, 2009 11:00:51 AM
Holy peas, that's adorable!! I wish I could crochet so I could make some for my niece and nephew (and maybe one for me too!). I think you did a really great job. What did you stuff him with? How much did it take? O_o
8  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Re: accidently steampunk... on: June 15, 2009 10:09:07 AM
It's not what you were aiming for, but it's so adorable!! The colors look really great together, and I love those buttons. Just think, once you edit your pattern and try it again, you're going to have two different adorable skirts!
9  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / Re: Raichuuuuu!!! .*: WITH PICS :*. on: June 12, 2009 11:37:20 AM
Holy poo on toast, he is ADORABLE! The paint colors you chose really match the original colors well, and his tail is just adorable. It looks cute, even if you missed the ear curls.
10  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Re: Japanese Poppet on: June 11, 2009 11:51:40 PM
Cute poppet! I like her Kimono a lot.

Actually, true geisha are not whores, it's a common misconception in Western countries. Geisha is 2 Kanji ( Gei= art, sha = person) meaning "performing artist."  Geisha were meant for entertaining guests through conversation, dance, music, etc. Most westerners get Geisha confused with Oiran, who were prostitutes.
