1  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / "Did you ever stop to think, and forget to start again?" on: July 18, 2011 05:58:42 PM
When I saw the trailers for the new Winnie the Pooh movie I just had to make him. I bought the pattern from Siempre Josefina. She has great patterns. I've added him to my stash of stuffies.

He's made with red heart super saver yarn and polyester fiberfill and 12mm safety eyes.

2  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Pocoyo on: July 09, 2011 12:18:15 PM
My son saw this show for the first time a couple of days ago and said, "mommy make it", so I did. It's the cutest little guy next to my little guy of course. It's so cool that he knows what mommy does and wants me to make him stuff. He just turned 6 and has autism.

C&C welcomed.

3  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / "Who lives in a pineapple under the sea??" on: July 04, 2011 05:22:46 PM
I've been making all kinds of crochet toys for my son and nephew. I've posted a few here. I was given a challenge to make Spongebob. I used a 2" piece of foam for the body/head and dowels for his legs so that he could stand. Will probably make the legs of the shorts a bit longer next time and maybe his arms too. C&C appreciated

closeup of legs

Pieces before sewing them together.

The face panel. On the second and third spongebob I made him some cheeks.

His legs and shoe. The the legs I used a 3/4" dowel and wrapped and glued the yarn as I went up. For the shoe I used what I had in a box of wooden pieces and crocheted around it.

First one I made on the left. I gave the second and third one more of a "wrist and hand" shape. They started growing taller as I went. I guess the sponge was absorbing some water Smiley

Close up of the new sleeve design. I think this one looks a bit better than the first one.
4  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Where's Perry?? on: May 06, 2011 01:32:40 PM
My latest creation. Made this for my son's friend. His mom had mentioned wanting Perry for him and when she invited us for his birthday party I knew what to make him. The body has two 1" thick rectangle foam pieces. To make the tail not fall down I inserted a 6" piece of 1/4" dowel half into the body and the other half into his tail. Used RedHeart Super Saver. Here are the pics, enjoy.

the body is 5" x 9" overall from bill to tail he's 18" long and stands 5" tall.
5  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Minion went Overseas on: April 12, 2011 02:29:51 PM
Personal Swap with FrankSpinello (Cathy). I ask for some of her felt finger puppets they are so cute my son loves to play with regular size puppets so I thought he would enjoy hers. This is what I sent her:

Two eyed Minion, I even made him a passport since he was going overseas. The other side of the British flag is the American flag

Hedgehog toy (I can't remember if I sent her this green one or another color)

Her son loved the toys.

6  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / My version of the Despicable Me Minion on: March 12, 2011 08:47:16 AM
My niece saw a post where someone had made some minion beanie hats. She asked me to make her one. Then I don't know how he became a "full size" version of the minion. He stands 18" tall. He wasn't meant to be this big, I forgot that acrylic yarmn stretches and as I was stuffing him he just grew and grew. Now my 5 yr old wants one (that's him in the last pic). Will probably make him a smaller version. But here you go, enjoy!

I put fiberfill behind his eye to make it pop out.

His hair, I just unraveled the 4 ply yarn after I "hooked rugged" it to his head.

See how big he is. I may tell my niece it got lost and keep it. The only problem with that is she comes to my house everyday afterschool. So I may just give it to her.  Cheesy

Made one for myself. Not as large only 4 1/2" tall, here he is posing with the 6" tall one.
7  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Captain Underpants on: January 12, 2011 08:04:09 PM
My nephew is obsessed with the comic Captain Underpants. He even has two sketchbooks filled with his own sketches of CU on different adventures. He once had one of his teddy bears wearing one of his old underpants and flying it. So I decided he needed his own CU. He was so excited. He even slept with it for a couple of days.

I used Red Heart yarn for the project and filled it with polyester fiberfill.

8  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Hagar the Horrible on: January 12, 2011 07:48:53 PM
My nephew starting reading the sunday comics and fell in love with Hagar. So as usual I printed some pictures and started working on him. He's 12" tall. Hope you enjoy.

9  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Home Depot Box and Duct Tape (mmm) on: July 08, 2010 08:57:39 PM
My son just loves to help me wash clothes. He's 5 now hopefully he feels the same way in a few years to do his own laundry. So I decided to make him his own washing machine out of two moving boxes from Home Depot, a roll of duct tape, kraft paper and a bit of electrical tape to highlight. Here are the pics. I didn't take pictures after I cut out some openings on the sides for him to carry it from room to room.

I'm brainstorming what to do with the boxes I still have leftover from my move.
