1  I've spotted a prime target! in Knitting: Discussion and Questions by thismightbegrace on: October 05, 2008 07:16:56 PM
Wow...I posted this knit graffiti idea over two months ago and I finally got it done today. Yay!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I've been racking my brain for a nice knitted graffiti project - something beyond pipes or poles.  One day  I was describing the phenomenon of knitted graffiti to my dad in the car on the way home from NYC, and he mentioned the Mark Twain statue located across from a Borders store in town.  Genius!  Here's a picture.
From what I can tell from the photo (which I take no credit for), and from sitting next to good ol' Twain in real life, the only free attackable areas are his ankles.  Ankle warmers it is!
They will have stripes and neat colors and I hope to get this done some time over Columbus day weekend and I will post updates.  I'm excited!
UPDATE 10/11
Tonight's the big night!  I finished the pieces, and am going downtown with some friends tonight, so I'll have the darkness to my advantage.  Here they are.
Wooooooo!
UPDATE 10/13
Okay guys, okay.  I still have the balls to do this...but the time?  Not so much.
I'm afraid I won't get a chance until Saturday at the earliest...Sad
Each color got two rows - a row of double, a row of single, except the first color which got a chain (duh.)
...to have finished my very first crochet project.
I plan to make more.  I also plan to have my excess stash obliterated by next month.
