307  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Party Planning / Re: Slumber Party Ideas? on: June 23, 2005 12:33:34 PM
how adult is adult?!

you could make like a hugeee bowl of cocktail and have those neat glasses which u dip in sugar and freeze cos they are always a hit and ice cubes coloured with juice and maybe with little fruits like grapes or raspberries in depending on Ur cocktail choice. And of course the obligatory junkfood.

you could always do a really crazy theme. like 80's or murder mystery. murder mystery always seems to go down well at adult parties as it gives adults the chance to be big kids and dress up!

i just found this on a search i did for you it looks pretty fun and arty and crafty rater than make dessert before hand get everyone to join in!

"Junk Food Frenzy: This is a great game that will keep your tummy full and keep you laughing. Dig out some of your favorite desserts and copy the instructions on index cards. Buy ingredients for all the desserts and place them on the kitchen counter. Shuffle the cards and divide the guests into two teams. Have players take turns drawing cards. Each player reads the card and takes the listed ingredient. When all the ingredients have been distributed, give the teams thirty minutes to prepare a dish using the ingredients accumulated by the individual players. When the dishes are complete, have each player taste and eat the results, then vote on the best tasting dessert! For a fun variation, give both teams the same ingredients and see what different desserts they come up with (without using recipes)."

hope thats somewhat along the lines of what you were thinking! if not here is a site which may be useful??

308  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / Re: Prep in a box? on: June 23, 2005 10:31:36 AM
you could get her loads of fake pearls from charity or thrift stores. they are v.cheap.

ok um a CD of her favorite poppy sort of songs.

you could make her an i love ashton top like those ones you find all over the place atm using stencilling.

what about one of those cutesy bow hair bands you could just make that out of an old hair band and wrap the ribbon around and affix a cute little bow.

a pair of flip flops for that understated but defiantly preppy look. customize the flip flops with beads on the thongs ( i  think thats what they are called) or buttons sewn on. or even stencilling ( + a glaze well not a glaze but a protective layer of some sort)

hope i helped! xxx

309  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / Re: Anti-depression in a Box??? on: June 23, 2005 10:16:08 AM
i know what really cheered me up when i was depressed was knowing ppl cared so doing this at all is absolutely fabulous. you're a hell of a person.

right you could do like hug vouchers.
put together a photograph album of all of your fun times or write a really long letter with all of the fun stuff you've done together and funny times decorate it with hand drawn pictures cheers most ppl up the worse drawn they are! or photos.

or what i did for my friend which sounds really odd is i sent her my comfiest favorite thick cords which are just perfect for slouching around and i knew that she loved them as was always constantly asking to borrow them! so i packaged them all up really prettily and put in photos wrapped up in them and a letter. you could also put little candies or treats in the pockets for an extra surprise. Find something of yours that YOU treasure and THEY love so its a really big deal that you are giving it to them even on loan or forever.

My friend bless her sent me her favorite and my favorite pj's that i always wear around her house. it cheered me up no end if only for a while!

i hope i helped! xxxx
310  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / Re: Artist in a box on: June 23, 2005 10:07:15 AM
Hey!

well as an artists too. best bets are these:

good paint brushes you can get them pretty cheap at dollar stores just make sure the tips of the brush aren't really stiff

a really cute pencil tin. - you could make this or like a pencil box with decoupage you could just get an old tin then sticky back over the pictures you put on.

a whole bunch of novelty pencils and felt tips and colored pencils no matter how old you are EVERYONE loves felt tips

art postcards

one really good idea would be to like get a whole bunch of really good imaginative pictures that she may want to draw or take inspiration from

better still a disposable camera so she can take shots her self when she is out to draw or just admire

a prettily drawn up list of all of the upcoming shows or galleries in the area

maybe a book on her favorite artist

you could stencil a tote or top with some art referencing thing to do with her favorite artist or like a picture or you could  splatter it with fabric paint that could look really cool.

ummmm i am properly thinking here!

pencil sharpeners and rubbers and rulers etc sharpies.

just for fun a beret too make her look like the sophisticated artist!

hope i helped! xxxx
