I would LOVE to be able to take a class or something, but I live in a small town so there is no place close for me to do that. Sad And there isn't anybody in town who makes their own patterns.

My mom's best friend did help me learn to use a sewing machine years ago (though I only recently started to use it more lol) but she moved about 2 hours away...Sad

I've never really made my own patterns because I just use other clothes as my basis and I alter it but I'm looking into making my own patterns.

How would I start? I kind of have an idea but if anybody else makes their own pattern maybe you could tell me what you do and give me an idea?

And I'm trying to figure out how to make a waist in my shirt. I have an hourglass shape so I need a larger bust and larger hip part, but the middle of it has to be smaller...how do I make that when I'm doing a pattern? :S
