81  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Oy Vey! Say it with...Pillows? on: September 26, 2008 06:44:05 PM
I made one of these for a friend of my mother...who has had a real trying life in general...to lift her spirits. I came up with the phrase and hand painted it on the fabric & then did a simple log cabin design to frame it & turned it into a pillow. I sewed a ribbon for hanging into the top edge...because it's more like wall art than a 'couch' decoration! LoL!
That just struck me funny!  Cheesy I do crack myself up!

Anyhow, comments are extremely appreciated, as I kind of fell in love with this idea...and was wondering what you all might think of this kind of thing. Wink

I have made a bunch in various designs...for Hanukkah, Christmas, and everyday....its not limited to holidays really. Undecided
82  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Are you staring at my hooters.... on: September 25, 2008 10:04:33 AM
...or just my hooter?  Cheesy

I'm so happy with how this piece turned out! I dont usually make 'necklaces'...staying focused mainly on the pendants...but this ribbon is so pretty & fun...I just had to take this owl all the way! The necklace is about 16.5" around...and the owl is about 1.5" across.

how it looks on:

comments questions are always welcome!

84  COOKING / Dessert / 1 week ...2 birthdays ...decorated cakes for babygirl & her older brother on: September 24, 2008 10:35:23 AM
End of August...beginning of September is always hectic planning parties for both of my kids who are 2 years and 1 week apart in age.

We decorated my son's cake with his favorite thing...Thomas the Tank Engine...and he helped to put the 'balloons' on!

and for my girl we went over the top girly with birds, ponies, flowers, and lollipops! Note that her name was spelled out in purple icing on the right side, but I photo edited it out to keep it not so personal for posting here.

They're not professional or anything...as I'm not striving to do this for a living... but they were a lot of fun for my little ones!

88  Archive of Past Craftster Challenge Entries / CHALLENGE 29 ENTRIES / Childhood Treasures Preserved in Children's Literary Hero Table...Dr. Seuss, etc on: July 02, 2008 08:47:21 PM
Ok...so here goes...My mother read to me a lot when I was a childso it only stands to reason that my childhood heroes were & still are the glorious authors and illustrators of childrens books.

Here is my table representing 4 of my favorites: Dr. Seuss & The Cat in the Hat, Maurice Sendak & Where the Wild Things Are, A. A. Milne & Winnie the Pooh, and Beatrix Potter & Peter Rabbit.

The legs of the table are carved from cedar posts and painted with acrylic paints & then sprayed with a clear coat to protect them.
The top of the table is home to all of my childhood treasuressome of which were thrown away by my mother during several of her cleaning raids in my room.and then secretly rescued from the trash. I remember her calling it my junk;). I still treasure itand get a warm fuzzy feeling when I look at the things inside.

The top of the table has an inlaid piece of .25 plexiglasswhich can be lifted out for adding future treasures.

Please let me know what you think...this is one of my most personal creations that I hold dearest to my heart...so comments are really appreciated! Thank you so much!

One of my very first softies...I think I was 9 or 10 when I made this little doggie:

My kids just love this! Its a great teaching tool for toddlersto pull up on, cruise around when learning to walk, they have improved their language skills by naming the things they see inside as well as their colors. When the little things are no longer choking hazardsIll let them play with the stuffmaybe! We'll see!  Cheesy

Thanks again for peeking at my creation!   Smiley

Just an idea ...like a secret santa...you know who you're crafting for ...but not who you'd be recieving from until package arrives. Pics of completed crafts could be posted as they are made to keep everyone guessing which one they might be recieving.

Sound like fun?  Wink
