41  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Everyday is Halloween Gallery SO May 20th on: May 05, 2016 01:50:59 PM
I've been so spoiled guys... just look at the awesomeness that KarenLouiseM made!!!

Everything was packaged so very beautifully & very secure. I'm thankful that instructions for opening were included.

These were the instructions...aren't the details beautiful?

The first part I opened was wrapped in tissue & tied with a tulle bow.
It's a gorgeous swag or bunting...with Halloween images. I've always wanted one of these for decorating & have never made the time to actually make one.  Wink

The next part I opened was this pretty decorated tin:

Here it is unwrapped...

...and what's inside!

Detail photo:

Beautifully crafted, highly detailed, ode to Edgar Allan Poe & The Raven!

Now this is what the top of the big cylindrical package looked like. I had to follow the directions to not damage the most thrilling thing yet.... as if what I'd already opened wasn't over the top amazing... Cheesy

I lift the top off to find this inside!!!

It's a fortune teller!!! I think I nearly fell over at this point!

...and he has a white bunny like our Yuki! Smiley
This is what the back looks like...the box holds a battery case....because it lights up!!!

Here are more photos... l am blown away by the details, the creativity... thinking to myself, this cannot be put away for Halloween...this needs to go in a place of honor to be admired all year long!

Trying to show top details...

The drawer in the front is full of fortune card tags on strings... you pull a string & your fortune is told!
Love there is a rabbit on the back side!

Here is my girl's fortune she picked...

This is showing the detail on the other part of the can packaging...

Everything together...except the bunting which I already had hanging up. Wink

I really love everything! Thank you KarenLouiseM!!!
42  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Every Day is Halloween Swap: Sign ups 4/11-4/18/16. SO May 20 on: May 05, 2016 01:06:53 PM
This week's check in!
Who would you choose to have dinner with: Frankenstein's Monster (and his bride), The Werewolf, Dracula, The Mummy or The Creature from the Black Lagoon?

I'd love to have dinner with Dracula... being a history nut, I'd want to hear all his stories. Smiley

Posting to the gallery now... I have received the most amazing things!

44  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / Re: SHRINKY DINKS on: May 03, 2016 04:02:53 PM
If you try the toaster & it still doesn't work, it could be a manufacturer defect in the shrink plastic I suppose. As a last resort, maybe give them a call & see what they say?
45  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / Re: How Do I Remove a Cameo From a Cabochon? on: May 02, 2016 01:55:14 PM
I've seen the cameos available to purchase on various sites, so you wouldn't have to pry them apart. Also going to suggest trying something called 'goo gone' ...it may help dissolve the glue.
46  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / Re: SHRINKY DINKS on: May 02, 2016 01:53:16 PM
That's the strangest thing...you haven't changed your method of shrinking or the materials.

One thing I have noticed if my pieces are shrinking unevenly, I'll place them all facing in the same direction in the oven. For some reason, that has helped them all shrink the same amount together & not look wonky...even though they curl & move as they shrink...laying them all alike made a difference.

Also, baking them in a toaster oven has given me much more control over them than in the standard oven. I think working in the smaller space helps them shrink more evenly. I was having trouble with them taking much longer to shrink & turning out very out of shape from what I had intended when shrinking in a standard oven. For what it's worth, I hope that helps. We are using the same brand.

This thread isn't dead...folks just haven't had any new questions for awhile, and here you are! I would like to ask more details about your project in order to help. What type of of shinky dinks are you using & how are you shrinking them? In an oven, toaster oven, or with a heat gun?

1. Yes!
2. One of our Halloween traditions has been watching The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown while sorting the Halloween candies after trick or treating. Good memories!
