191  soldered glass crochet pendant... in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by I Sew Cute on: June 26, 2008 03:57:07 PM
This was inspired by my 'secret' partner for a swap...because someone loves to crochet...and now I have half a dozen different designs and can't stop...

Like knitting it's an addiction! Wink

I just crack myself up re reading that 'hooked on crocheting'...hah! God, somebody help me!  Roll Eyes

I cheated and found my partner so I could make another suprise based on thier interest.  Wink

I was thinking I should have soldered something to begin with...since I've had a lot more practice with that...resin is a new love!  Smiley

I found this cute little kitty at either Michael's or Hobby Lobby:

It would make a nice necklace perhaps! Wink

196  Miss Muffett...now on a double sided apron...for ritapizza...very pic heavy in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by I Sew Cute on: June 24, 2008 10:54:59 AM
I made up the pattern for the apron...cut out the white part...transfered my artwork onto it via inkjet transfer paper...added some stabilizer to help it keep its shape...made about 4 yards of ruffle...sewed that on...as well as the neck ribbon...then sewed the whole thing to the contrasting fabric...right sides facing...turned it. Sewed on the ribbon tie at the waist as I stitched all around the edge. Wow...that was a mouthful!

Just thought I'd share the process...might not be the right way to make an apron...but I'd never made one before! Wink

My daughter had to get in on the photo opportunity...

Comments/questions are always welcome!  Wink

I only poured resin into her hair because she hasn't changed her avatar to an audrey pic..
 Undecided
*helps her wash resin out*

But I did change my avatar to a cartoony version of me as Audrey...knitting even! Does that count...or am I cheating and not knowing it?! (If you want an Audrey picture...then I can *sigh* do that...but it did take over an hour to change my avatar originally!  Wink

198  Re: guess what? It IS possible to solder resin...and I've got the Orb to prove it! in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by I Sew Cute on: June 22, 2008 04:45:54 PM
This time I made one with stars inside to better pay tribute to the "Men in Black" cat's universe charm...and added a star to the bottom...rather than a glass bead.

This is more gold in tone inside the resin than blue... as the other one was, but it's just as sparkly!  Grin

Got a new tip for the soldering iron...so that helped a little too!  Wink

199  guess what? It IS possible to solder resin-New 'Men in Black' Tribute with stars in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by I Sew Cute on: June 21, 2008 11:16:26 AM
Felt just a little experimental this morning and thought I'd give this a try...

Just took 2 pieces of molded resin & put them together & soldered them...very carefully...because resin can melt and burn and all that yuck if you're not too careful.  Undecided

I did it with a crappy burnt out tip on the iron too...and absolutely love how it came out.  Grin

Whatcha think? I'm definitely going to do more...its a full-fledged addiction now!

I must apologize for crappy photos...but the camera just wouldn't focus with all those sparkles sending the lens into a tizzy!

Personally I wouldn't copy these exactly...I just don't feel good about making exact duplicates of another artists work. I like to say I came up with the idea and made it myself! If something inspires me, I like to put a twist on it to make it my own. Wouldn't little plastic dragons or dogs or those little New Orleans Kingcake Babies make good earrings too? Know what I mean?  Wink
I think when you post something on craftster, however, you are opening yourself up for questions, comments, and people who genuinely like your idea might want to make them for themselves...and come to you for guidance...because you know how to do what they want to do.
One of the best examples of sharing I've seen here is John Golden's resin pouring tutorial post...where he doesn't just show you everything...but gives a link within the post to the place where he gets his rings and pendants. I don't think he's hurting for giving up his secrets...if anything it's making more people come to him for his beautiful pendants & rings.

With the internet it is easy to find anything anymore. If anyone wants to get the cats or birds...check out amazon playmobil birds
or amazon lego cats. They are toys and these would look great in a doll house too!

Please put your web info or etsy shop in your signature or profile...so people can come to you for the Lunique original creations. Craftster allows that link...so take advantage of it.  Smiley
