PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Diaper Bag and Change Kit for me (img heavy) - *Updated*

I'm due next month and can't wait to meet this new little one! Even though I don't know if I'm having a boy or a girl, I couldn't resist making a diaper bag that will (hopefully) work either way. It's a touch on the girly side, but I'm the one carrying it around, right!? (I may take off the yo-yo detail on the diaper bag if it it's a boy, though.) I also decided to make a matching diaper-changing kit. The diaper bag turned out a little smaller than I had envisioned and the kit turned out a little bigger. It still fits inside, but there isn't much room for anything else. I may just use it for quick errands or maybe keep it in the car. Hmmm. Any ideas? Thanks for looking! I'd love to read your comments. There are two bottle pockets on the outside and ties on both sides for 'expandability'. The back. The change pad is attached with snaps, so it's removable. UPDATE: Here are some pics of the inside. The diaper bag has flat pockets on both sides and an elastic bottle ring (I figured the bottle pockets on the outside should be enough, but a ring on the inside wouldn't take up too much space - just in case) The diaper kit just has a couple flat pockets - nothing fancy. I wanted it to fit some diapers, wipes and maybe some diaper rash cream.

CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Discussion and Questions / Re: Baby Pouch Slings Help!

From looking through the photos, it looks like her slings are two layers sewn together. I think there is a bottom layer (much like a basic sling) and a band that fits nicely under baby's bottom and around mom for extra support. If you look at the photo of the brown sling and "Little Ben", you can see a row of stitching where the two pieces are attached. Let me know if that description was really confusing or if I'm way off, but that's what it looks like to me. BTW, I think I'm going to try to make one myself . Let me know how yours turns out!

Thanks for all the compliments! I love craftster - you are all so sweet. As for a tutorial, it could be a while before I get to it. I have a two year old and I'm due in April, and I can't imagine finding time in the next couple months or even in the next couple years . I do love it when other people make tutorials, so I'll keep it in mind. Otherwise, it's a simple 'box' design - I'm sure you could find another tutorial in the tut list to get you started. The finished bag is 6" tall, 10" wide, and 3.5" deep. Since I'm wimping out in the tutorial department, feel free to ask any other questions. I'd be happy to help. Thanks again for the comments! I love reading them!

Thanks for the comments! sylrpt:Yep, it's for a bottle or sippy cup. I didn't want it to obtrusive, since the inside is primarily for diapers and wipes. I could have done a pocket as well, but thought I'd try something different . threegirlsandaboy: I used a heavy-duty stabilizer from Joann's for the front, back and bottom. I went to the store and asked for the heaviest/strongest interfacing they had. I wish I had the name of it, but I think I threw out the instructions. It's fusible, but it doesn't fuse that well, so I sewed it in too. I'm pretty sure it was $5-6 and I used a 40% off coupon - gotta love 'em! I used a light-mid weight interfacing for the flap.

This was a custom order for a friend, and it was a ton of fun to make. I'm so happy with how it turned out. In fact, I'm a little jealous - I may have to make one for myself some day . She wanted a small-ish bag that could fit a few diapers, a wipes container, and two bottles/sippy cups. She is in love with these Amy Butler fabrics, so we HAD to use them. She wanted a funky curved flap. So I decided to add a little embroidery since the flap drew attention to that part of the bag. The change pad has a layer of clear vinyl for easy cleanups and to protect the loverly fabric.
