Awesome design idea with the felt in between.. I have tried to glue buttons/beads to hair clips many times and FAILED..  Ive even tried with a piece of felt between for extra strength but now I know its just the glue I was using.. Hot glue does not work for this project! lool it peels away from the shiny surface of the hair clip.

 High-five for using super glue! Now I gotta get me some!
