Challenge: Care of magical creatures SPEW: n/a House: Hufflepuff Project Name: Fairy House Brief Description: I'll be honest, the idea was not mine, but together my and I crafted this fairy house - if assignments must be completed solely by me, no worries I can do another project, but thought you might enjoy our fairy house anyways.
We went for a walk together and collected all sorts of natural items - rocks, sticks, bark, stones, etc. Then we found a flower pot under the deck that me Dad said we could have. She was shocked when her Grandpa (my Dad) told her she could dig some dirt out of his garden to fill the pot, then we built a home for visiting fairies, gave them a patio, a walkway, a future garden, and a "ladder" for injured fairies who may not be able to fly to the house. -we won't have greenery for a few weeks yet, but I plan to add some glitter this week, not fairy home is complete without a bit of fairy dust right:)
I have thoroughly enjoyed having time this spring break, and the fact that this semesters prompts seem to fit so many of my "must be done by gurgle gurgle drool 7th" projects:)
Class/Challenge/House Pride: Arithmancy SPEW: House: Hufflepuff Project Name: Mom's Silver Shoes Project Page Link (if available): Brief Description: We have our dresses and clutch purses, so it was only fitting we needed some shoes. I went to town on some of our old shoes with silver paint, glitter glue, shellac, and trim. Wasn't sure what the final outcome would be, but I'm quite happy. It took 4 coats of silver paint and 4 coats of glitter glue, to cover the black and get them nice and sparkly - each layer required a couple hours to dry before the next layer could be added. Then I added trim around the top and finally shellacked them to ensure the glitter didn't flake off everywhere.
Class/Challenge/House Pride: Charms SPEW: House: Hufflepuff Project Name: IRD savings box Project Page Link (if available): Brief Description: Now this is done to be permanent - for 3 years. I recently found out that International Recognition Days will be in a place I really want to go to in 2018, and that means I need to start saving money. Knowing myself, I always dip into savings when I'm short on funds, so this box has a permanent sticking charm, that I will have 3 years in which to learn the unsticking charm! I first took all the hinges and fasteners off, then I wrote a letter to myself in 2018 and added a few "you did it" items. I glued the lid on with a regular glue stick. Then I glued ribbon around the box to cover the seam of the glued down lid. Then I Refastened the hinges and clasps. When that was all dry I decorated the box using sharpie pens to write inspirational words and images. This puppy has a serious case of permanent sticking charm on it!
Class/Challenge/House Pride: Headmistress challenge - March SPEW: House: Hufflepuff Project Name: Elephant on an egg Project Page Link (if available): Brief Description: I got this little elephant eraser somewhere, but he was WAY too cute to actually use. While my niece and I were playing with him, we tried to balance him on a plastic egg - that was a fail, poor elephant wiped out and hit the floor, but after she left, I persevered, I flatted the side of an egg so it would sit on it's side. Then with the elephant on it, it was cute, but rather bland, so I got out the paint and sharpies. I painted the egg with a technique to look like grass, drew on the vines, painted a watering hole on top, but the egg still looked empty, so I added one of my favourite quotes that also represents balance "live, eat; laugh".
Class: Astronomy SPEW: House: Hufflepuff Project Name: Garment Bag Brief Description: I've made my TOPS friends their costumes, and I'm making my formal gown, so instead of folding them and risking wrinkles and damage as we travel (it's only a 5 hour drive, but the dresses are cotton or satin, and one has glitter which I'd rather not have over all my other clothes), I've created this garment bag that slides over 5 clothes hangers and hides all of the dresses so nobody will see them as we check in to our rooms.
Class: Flying SPEW: House: Hufflepuff Project Name: Garment Bag Brief Description: I needed a fancier dress than usual for our TOPS recognition days next month, as we're hosting Saturday evening when everybody glams up, so I've made this dress with some glitter overlay, a rhinestone belt, and a satin skirt. I feel great wearing it, and can't wait to show off:)
Class: Muggle studies SPEW: House: Hufflepuff Project Name: TOPS fascinators/brooches Brief Description: The theme of the recognition days is "reasons to believe", and the colour scheme is blue, purple, and silver, so I made these fascinators - no set plan, just listened to "believe" (the theme song from the 2010 Olympics, which is a very inspirational song). These can be worn in the hair or on their dresses, each individual can decide for themselves.
Class: Bertie Botts Bean - Cherry SPEW: House: Hufflepuff Project Name: Bunny rabbit rag blanket Brief Description: My nieces have a little swingset with a play house and always want to have picnics out there, but constantly take the pillow cases, so with the warm weather coming, I finally got around to making this little blanket which will fit perfectly and keep them comfy during all of their upcoming picnics.
Class/Challenge/House Pride: Defense against the dark arts SPEW: n/a House: Hufflepuff Project Name: Eucalyptus show tubs Brief Description: I got sick and tired of the one time use "shower bumbs" that lost their scent, and made the shower floor slippery, so I did some experimenting and came up with this method of making it in plastic containers with screw top lids. When you're sick, use it in the shower. Immediately recap it when your shower is done and it will retain the strong scent which is what I enjoy most out of them:) Recipe : 1 part baking soda, 1 part water, mix and add enough eucalyptus to make you happy, pour into containers - fill about 1/2 - 3/4 full and put lid one.

Class: Apparition House: Hufflepuff SPEW: NA Project Name: Hair accessory and jewelery holder Project Description: This is a case to hold my hair stuff and jewellery for when I travel - which isn't often, but it's nice to keep things neat and tidy in the hotel rooms, and keep things together so they don't tangle or break.
