Finally figured out a project for the bertie botts blueberry bean:)

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Bean: Blueberry Pie
SPEW: n/a
House: Hufflepuff
Project Name: "Science of me" yearly backdrop
Project Page Link: n/a
Brief Description: For the Blueberry Pie bean, I created a backdrop to display my yearly progress on my journey to better health:)  The cardboard came from a recycled at work, and the clothes pegs came from Canadian tire - I know, a bit of a stretch for local, but we also live about 3 hours away from the paper and pulp mill, and our province exports wood products to all parts of the world, so there's  a big chance that the cardboard and clothe pegs where made from B.C wood products.  The reason I created the backdrop is because the theme of this years fall rally is "Back to School", so I thought if I chart my progress it will be a perfect display.

Project Name: jwlly roll kit
Project Page Link: n/a
Brief Description: I made this kit for my Mom for Christmas.   Learned it is much harder to choose 10 fabrics for someone else than for myself, but can't wait to introduce her to the jellyroll race.

I'm not getting the option to upload pics, so I'll get the info posted and come back on my phone later to add pictures.

Class/Challenge: Alchemy
House: Hufflepuff
Project Name & Link: Christmas duvet cover
Brief Description: I used 5 fabrics to create this 9 square x 9 square (or 81" x 81") duvet cover for the Christmas season.  The picture also includes the pillow shams and pillow case.

Class/Challenge: Apparition
House: Hufflepuff
Project Name & Link: Cleaned & organized bedroom
Brief Description: I spent some time this week cleaning my bedroom to create a nice blank canvas for my decorating
Project Picture:  Sorry for the crummy pics, the room is really awkward to take a good picture of.
BEFORE
AFTER
Class/Challenge: Defence against dark arts
House: Hufflepuff
Project Name & Link: Housecoat for Mom
Brief Description: I tore apart a worn out terry bath robe, and created this much prettier soft and fluffy housecoat for my Mom.  I created my own bias binding to add some flare rather than just using a contrasting solid because I couldn't get a colour match for the blue.

Class/Challenge: Potions
House: Hufflepuff
Project Name & Link: lace votive holders
Brief Description: My niece and I did these together - she did the first layer, I did the following 6 layers of paste.
First we had to wrap our form in plastic and then add a coat of oil so as to have easy removal.  Then we mixed 1 part water with 1 part glue.  After that we dunked the lace doilies in the glue mixture, smoothed them around the form, and let it dry.  then I continued to brush on the glue mixture several time throughout the week.  We finished it off by inserting a battery operated tea light.

the hoopla is great, and the baby outfit is adorable - reminds me of one I did for my niece at 1 year old for a Christmas in July party 7 years ago, can't believe it was that long ago.

Here's a picture of my new bedding, finally finished in time for Halloween:)

and I think I will upload the rest as thumbnails to my original post, see how far along I am to 50.

I have officially served my September detention.  Tomorrow we'll see what else I can get finished.

Class/Challenge/House Pride: September Detention
SPEW: (If your item is for charity, enter that here; if not leave blank or add n/a.)
House: Hufflepuff
Project Name: Duvet cover & shams & pillow case
Project Page Link (if available):
Brief Description: I started this way back in beginning of October last year, then when I could see there was no chance of getting it done for Halloween, I put it away - and forgot about it until my craft room purge this past summer.  Jump to September and thinking I need to finish it, some solid days on it this past month and it's finished.  Regretfully, I can not get a picture of how it glows in the dark (Spider web, and certain details in the pictures.)

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Head mistress September challenge
SPEW: (If your item is for charity, enter that here; if not leave blank or add n/a.)
House: Hufflepuff
Project Name: Applesauce
Project Page Link (if available):
Brief Description: (how it fits the requirements, pattern/techniques/recipe used, any fun tips, etc.) As I looked in the fruit drawer of the fridge, I found several not so good looking apples.  One tradition I have is to make homemade applesauce for our thanksgiving dinner, so I did exactly that, and put it in the freezer.

RECIPE: about 10 medium size apples, 2 cups water, 2 TBSP honey.
1) Peel and core all apples, cut into small chunks and place in a pot of water.
2) Cook apples until soft, mash them up to the consistency you like.
3) Add honey and mix thoroughly.
4) Put in a freezer safe dish and store in the freezer until needed.

House: Hufflepuff
Project Name: Decoupage pumpkins
Project Page Link (if available):
Brief Description: (how it fits the requirements, pattern/techniques/recipe used, any fun tips, etc.)  I created these for a display at work.  I cut the handles off of two plastic pumpkins (the kids trick or treat bucket kind), and covered them with fabric that had been dipped in a solution of 1 part glue and 1 part water.  Once that was done I let them dry for 24 hours and added some fake flowers.

Project Page Link (if available):
Brief Description: (how it fits the requirements, pattern/techniques/recipe used, any fun tips, etc.) I had my nieces help in creating about 50 whale coasters, I traced the whale motif onto 4" ceramic coasters.  We then coloured them in, and then baked them in the oven for 30 minutes to heat set the images.
