Basically you would transfer your designs or even freehand a design onto the wood sign after painting.  Then use a woodburning machine to burn the design, you can paint if no woodburning machine is available.  I will drill holes and glue the dowels in place to hang the garlic and the herbs to dry.

These were a neat gift I gave to families with children over the holidays and they all loved them!  Very easy too!  Use candy melts and melt them down in a microwave - pour the melted candy in lollipop molds, add your stick and place in the refrigerator to harden.  These are a great gift for Spring, Easter and Birthday parties!

I also painted the names of each family member on the pots for added personalization!  Great favor gift also using smaller pots and 1 or 2 lollipops!

Now that is very clever!  My plants dry out so quickly in this dry indoor atmosphere - will have to try these!  Thanks!

I really like woodburning and also crafting items that are practical and useful.  I designed my Garlic n Herb sign using stencils for the letters and pyro paper to transfer the designs on to the wood.  The pyro paper copies your image using a laser copier and then you can woodburn right through the paper.

After I applied the green paint I took a rag which I had watered down and rubbed the wood to get the green stained affect.  Then I transferred all the designs and woodburned the outlines before filling in the letters.

I used colored oil pencils to color in the garlic...

I will be sealing the entire sign after I add 3 dowels for hanging the garlic and drying the herbs.  There is also a picture hanger on the back for placing on the kitchen wall near my cooking area!
6  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Re: dehydrator love with instructions on: February 06, 2010 10:49:24 AM
Excellent post!  I use my dehydrator all the time and love the dried fruits as snacks instead of chips or cookies.  I always make a quick check of the clearance produce at the grocery store for good deals on fruit that needs to be sold and then just come home and dry it all!
