1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: Why so serious? Almost. on: September 09, 2008 12:49:13 AM
I am /so/ wearing that shirt right now, fyi.  I absolutely love this.  Hardcore.  If the Hot Topic at my mall doesn't keep my size of the women's Harley shirt (with just Harley)  I told them I'd just take a smaller size and cut it up ^_^  I officially think that's what I'll do and make a hoodie.  I may just have heart failure if I pull it off but thank you SO much for the idea and you did an amzing job on this Smiley

My Pom can't stand to be away from me for a second so he sleeps at my feet whenever I craft on his giant duck plush.  There have been several times when I hear him mouthing something to discover his mouth full of pins or choking-sized beads.  Hopefully he never actually swallows anything.  I'm glad your boy is alright ^_^

I feel you, hun.  My boyfriend of over 2 years left me yesterday and now I have a gazillion yards of fabric for boy-catching dresses lol  Keep your head up, sweetie, and we'll both find someone amazing one day  Wink

Dang, I thought I made 'Christ on a cracker' up myself lol  Y'all are way too nice for my own good.

And Hank was the first name he responded to after like an hour.  His real name is Henry VIII ^_^

Time to go fishin'!  Alright, so they other day at JoAnn's my mother and I were hanging out with the pattern catalogs when my lovely mother noticed the sales sign said that Butterick patterns were 99 cents each.  Oh, Christ on a cracker, it was on.  We got 10 (TEN!!) patterns. (1 umbrella, 3 aprons, 1 dog-themed, 1 swimsuit, and 4 dresses if I remember correctly)  Then we were roaming the fabrics, looking for stuff to make when I happened on goldfish (GOLDFISH) fabric and it's destiny was clear.  I definitely needed an a-line goldfish-themed dress for the new school semester and it was done just in time for being able to see my fiance on our 2.5 year anniversary.  And here it is -
Here, it's not hemmed and the straps aren't attached but it's the best full photo of it.

After the straps (regular orange ribbon) are attached, a closer view of the bust.

Completely hemmed with some (unmatching, in my opinion) flipflops, my zebra bag and Hank with his E collar (he just got fixed last week)

And Mommy Dearest decided to photograph me mid-make (She's so proud lol)

And my first ever dart

The back sewn together pre-zipper

This, by the way, is my first ever "from scratch" anything and I'm amazingly proud of it.  I have some music note fabric and cherry fabric that I officially know /just/ what they'll be used for.  I can't wait to make more of these!! Any comments are SUPER appreciated. (Yes, SUPER.)

Love, Kris. <3

also, on a slightly unrelated note, you can get less blurry photos by backing away from the subject. you can try using your macro setting (the little flower) but you still can only get so close without losing focus. if the photo is not zoomy enough for you, take it in to a photo editing program and zoom. it's an extra step (or two) but you'll have a way better photo to show Smiley

i hope this sounds polite and not snarky...i don't mean it to sound annoyed or snippy.

No, I understand but that camera is super old and it doesn't have the macro setting.  Thanks for the tip though.  I'll remember that when I get a new camera.

This is absolutely awesome.  I just got a brand new, still shiny 8g nano after having my 1st gen. since the things came out.  You should have seen the mirror side of that one.  It wasn't pretty and I was loathe to scratch mine/spend $30 on a protective case but this is absolutely perfect!  That and I have a /huge/ scrap pile of adorable fabric to dive into for this project.  Awesome idea!

I just got this pattern and was a tad worried about the way it would look once finished but this looks amazing!  Very well done; I may just have to go try my hand at it Smiley

I have a ton of these with shoelaces but I never though of doing it with the clear stretch string stuff.  I have a bunch of the colored energy drink tabs that I've been meaning to use for a while.  Thanks for the idea and great bracelet! I like the single red one ^_^
