24  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / Button making supplies on: June 16, 2009 05:04:27 AM
I'm trying to find some of the aluminium 2 piece button parts for one of my small button makers and wanted to purchase some online but can't find any around.

Does anybody know where I can get some, from eBay or elsewhere?

Thanks!
25  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Craft from a magazine Swap? on: June 15, 2009 10:43:27 AM
I was flicking through lots of my old craft magazines, looking at all of the cool creations and realised I never had enough excuses to make all of the awesome creations inside. So ...

How about a Craft from a magazine swap? I was thinking that the swap could be around 3+ points which all have to be produced from the magazine/s of your choice, when you've crafted those items you send them, along with a choice of cool makes from the magazine you chose, along to your partner.

Whaddya think?

Comments welcome.  Cheesy
26  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Party Planning / My 18th - High Tea. Ideas! on: May 17, 2009 08:50:15 AM
I'm turning 18 in a week, and have my birthday party on the 30th. I'm having it at home, with just my family, there will be about 20 people there, kids included, and I wanted some ideas for a whimsical/high tea type party that can be fun for everyone, with a real kids party theme. I'm childish like that. (:

So, I need ideas for:

  • Child party food
  • Decorations
  • Party bags to take home - contents

etc etc

All ideas welcome. (:

28  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / So, I think I could be addicted to sparkly things ... on: December 08, 2008 04:11:18 AM

29  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Post your favourite Christmas treat recipes here. on: November 29, 2008 06:48:53 AM
I'm thinking of making gift boxes for everyone this year, and I was thinking of making some treats to nom on while everybody is opening their gifts.

I was wondering what everybody's favourite treat recipe's were?

Here's my first idea:

Easy truffles

8 oz good quality chocolate chunks.
1 cup of thick cream
2 tablespoons of butter (unsalted)
Cocoa powder (or icing sugar)

1. Place 8 oz of chocolate and 2 tablespoons of butter into a large bowl.
2. Slowly simmer 1 cup of thick cream in a saucepan.
3. When hot, add some of the cream to the chocolate and butter and start to whisk.
4. When the chocolate has started to melt down, add more of the cream a little at a time.
5. When all the cream, chocolate and butter are mixed together and whisked thoroughly, leave to set.
6. When the mixture is of a thick, peanut butter kind of consistency, use a spoon to form the truffle balls.
7. Put the truffle balls onto a baking tray covered in some grease proof paper.
8. Brush over some melted chocolate and finish by rolling the truffles in cocoa powder.* (the extra chocolate coating helps them keep the 'ball' shape) and makes them last a little longer. Cheesy Put the truffles into individual cases (this is the tricky part - you can use a cocktail stick to spike them, and try and do it as fast as possible.)
9. Put the truffles back into the fridge for 5-10 minutes. (Take out 30 minutes before serving.)
10. You can store the truffles in the fridge, or at room temperature in an air-tight container for a few days. They also freeze really well.

*There are other toppings like toasted nuts or sugar which are yummo too.

Post your favourites here please, and we can all share in the yummy goodness. Cheesy
