1  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / Re: Fall wedding color questions on: August 08, 2011 02:51:08 PM
Yeah, its not so much that I'm bothered by it not being seasonal enough but how it will work with the background. Things should still be pretty green but maybe not so lush. Originally it was going to be a snazzy night time New Orleans wedding but with us not wanting to budge on the date (so many halloween parties and VooDoo fest that weekend) we couldn't find a venue we liked.

But then I found this place...

That is the pavillion we are having the reception in (and possibly wedding if the weather is bad)

And this tree may be the backdrop to the ceremony.

Its so gorgeous out there. So now I'm changing everything we had planned to go with an outdoors/garden type wedding. I'm so excited about these colors now! Thank you so much! I feel really excited about starting my crafting!
2  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / Fall wedding color questions on: August 08, 2011 07:58:31 AM
I'm getting married October 29th (or at least thats the ceremony, actually paper signing is on the 31st since its our anniversary). Its technically a fall wedding though I live in Louisiana and other than some dropped leaves much will still be green. Our wedding and reception are outside and we have a really great venue.

Its a small wedding with no wedding parties. So I don't have any bridesmaids dresses to worry about. We are diy-ing pretty much everything. All of the color will be in the decor. I haven't been able to settle on a color sceme yet. I know I shouldn't go with really pastel spring colors but I don't want the red and oranges associated with fall. So these are the colors I'm thinking...

Sunflower yellow and dark and light shades of purple/lavender.
What do you think? Is it appropriate for fall?
3  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Last minute vampire costume... very late post on: January 20, 2010 09:25:59 AM
I had to wait until a friend posted her pictures from halloween to post them here. Originally I was going to be a peacock but I looked for months to try to find some blue fabric I was happy with and never did. So literally the day before halloween I took stock of what I had around the house and made something.

The corset is from fabric from an old prom dress my sister didn't want and I took the bustle off of that one too but I don't have a picture of it (which is a shame cause It really made the dress. And the skirt is actually an underskirt from a different old prom dress, which took some work since someone put their heel through it, lol. I used zip ties for the boning.

This is also my first attempt at a corset, which I learned alot making this one. I should have put the grommets closer together. I should have also took in the measurements at the waist more too... it looked a little boxy on.

6  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Re: Halloween costume ideas for 2008 on: October 09, 2008 06:35:48 AM
I wanted to go as Jessica Rabbit really really bad but I just don't feel like being that sexy this year. Maybe when I have some parties lined up to show off my handy work.

So instead I'm going with my runner up. Mrs. Jolly Green Giant!! I've never seen anyone do it so I'm kind of excited about the whole thing. I'm just not sure whether or not I want to put fake leaves on the dress or cut out leaves from felt/fabric. Opinions on which would be better?
