I love them ALL, but I especially love the grey one!  If I made it I would have to add straps as my kids would no doubt pull it down...LOL

Yes it was just a size large t-shirt.  I cut off the neck, shoulders and the beginning of the sleeves (just fold in half and cut around the neck and go a little wide.  I also cut off the hem of the sleeves.  Added the shirring.

The shirring I learned by reading posts and testing different settings on my machine.  Long stitch, high tension with elastic thread in the bobbin.  I used the one from joanns. This is the one that has worked the  best.  I had some other one that was a little finer but it was not working which is a shame b/c i have a bunch of it.  I am going to have to test the settings more with this one b/c the less I have to go out and buy, the better!

I did two rows of shirring around the armholes, I think 4 or 5 around the neck and six around the waist (actually higher than  the waist, under the bust)

It's really fun.  I have always loved shirring but either was not able to find really cute stuff or it was too pricey.  Now I can make my own!

8  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Tie Dye Steven 'Talkhouse' Pharoah t-shirt recon on: April 25, 2008 04:07:18 PM
This is my new favorite style.  I really love it and I really love this shirt.  Same style as the 'rainbow jungle' one but this one has awesome colors!  The sleeves look wonky but that's just b/c I didn't straighten it out before taking pic.  They are not really wonky.

Thanks!  I really wish it were a little bigger.  I love the orange thread too.  I was thinking about red or blue (which still would have been nice) but the orange just had the jungle vibe going on.

I did make another one in the same style but started off bigger.  It started as a big bright tie dye t shirt.  It has a picture of Stephen (Talkhouse) Pharoh on the front and it says talkhouse on the back.  I've been wearing it and have gotten so many complements on it.  It really does look cool.  I really love it.  I just charged the camera battery so I'm gonna take a picture in a few minutes and post it.

Ok, I know that the concept is not that original.  I added shirring around the neck arms and waist to make a puff sleeve, wide neck tunic.  But the print on this shirt was just amazing.  The zebra print is on both sides!!  I just love it.  Too bad it doesn't fit me but that's ok!
