1  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / The knotty tree on: April 13, 2012 08:28:29 AM
So I've discovered a passion for needlework thanks to finally trying it  Cheesy I'm up to 3 stitches: back stitch, french knot, and chain stitch and am having a blast.  Anyhoo I just finished a project for my sister...acutally I had already done something like this on the sewing machine with just regular stitches based off of a pin http://pinterest.com/pin/9922061648904540/ but then after trying hand embroidery I had the lightbulb go off and I trashed that and made this instead

Pardon the weird photo I was using my daughters kiddy camera, lol.

And here's a close up from the scanner

As you can see from the markings that I need to erase yet, I was going to go with twigs, but after seeing an awesome tree hoop (http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=405090.msg4795307#msg4795307) by pennydreadful I decided to go in the knot direction and I'm so glad I did because this is going to be an awesome pillow!
2  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Beachy Birthday Pillow on: March 03, 2012 08:53:13 PM
Ok so the starfish is a little wonky but so are ones that have lost a limb previously and regrown one (at least that's my story and I'm sticking to it) But here is the pillow since I'm on a pillow spree that I made for my SIL for her birthday. She has a beach theme going on in her room.

I was going to do three seashells but I kept laughing too hard thinking of the movie Demolition Man  Grin
3  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Fathers Day Quilt on: January 24, 2012 04:48:41 PM
Well, it took me til December but I finally got a photo taken of the quilt I'd made my Dad for Fathers Day 2011 :-)  It wasn't until today though that Mom uploaded it so I could snag a copy, lol.

Without further ado...
4  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / Talk About The Swap Process / Partners Have Feelings on: November 08, 2011 10:48:52 AM
I am not one to complain usually and I'm not crying about anything but I have to say folks need to remember that their partners have feelings and put a lot of time and effort into things.  Following are things to ponder.

Receiving

Like when you receive an item you should post in the gallery about it even if you've had to ask your partner to upload photos, a one sentence private message saying *got it love it*, just doesn't give the person who did all that hard work warm fuzzies, doesn't give the other swap participants any idea about usage..

If something doesn't fit private message your partner for perhaps they can fix it rather than posting in the forum, lord knows I've just smiled and nodded and posted all clear when I've had things not fit and just fixed them myself.

If you get something you just don't think is a quality piece but obviously took a good bit of time to do, suck it up, we all started with something along the lines of Elmer glue, paper, and scissors.

Sometimes even if you're clear on what you want something happens to a project your partner was making for you and it had to literally be scrapped, if this has happened and you know it happened be happy that they were still able to make something else in time to send.

Sending

Sometimes you get a partner that you wouldn't have chosen for yourself in a bazillion years because you can tell by their swap info that they are nothing at all like you and what they like just literally rubs you the wrong way, but you should do your very best for them anyway... I'm just saying, twining a single ribbon around something bought doesn't make it a crafted item it shows laziness that had a bow put on it.

Be sure to be clear in what your likes are and what you might actually want rather than giving an obscure list of likes and then saying "oh anything will be fine" cause if you want something specific then don't tell people to look at your wist or pinterest for ideas of your style and wishes.

Barring an emergency or accident, if you're supposed to send something on a day and you knew about it for weeks then do so.

If we all keep this stuff in mind then feelings of happiness for our partners can be crafted  Smiley

6  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Bathroom Tissue (TP) Cover Swap on: September 06, 2011 02:51:01 PM
Lets face it we all use TP  Grin I think the subject pretty much says it all.  Anyone game?  It would be nice to have something in place before the holidays so that on the off chance that the roll goes quickly our guests won't be forced to hunt under the sink for another roll, which is especially important for those of us who have cabinetry a bit away from the commode.

9  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Ancient Cultures Swap 2 on: May 19, 2011 09:52:21 AM
It's been a few years so I was wondering if anyone would be interested in another Ancient Cultures Swap  Grin
10  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Hair Accessories Swap? on: January 27, 2011 11:02:39 PM
You know I'm sitting here this evening thinking to myself that it would be nice to have some more hair accessories.  I have long hair and love to decorate it sometimes.  I know I'm not the only one who likes pretties for their hair (short or long, lol) and I'm not just talking bows because I'm 37 and past bows personally ...though certainly if your partner likes them go for it  Smiley I'm talking elegant, interesting, themed, whatever, just neat things to put in the hair.

Would anyone else be interested in a grown up hair accessories swap? Say 3-5 hair items?

Cheers,
Christy
