1  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Tips for Participating in Craft Fairs / Craft Fair Sales in the UK - anyone had much luck this year? on: May 06, 2008 08:43:56 AM
Hello!

I'm due to do a craft fair at the end of May. I last did a fair at Easter and it was miserable. I didn't even make enough to cover the cost of the table, which was 12.

I was in St Ives over the weekend and visited their craft fair in the Parish Hall. The ladies there didn't seem to be doing too well either, from what I overheard. Unfortunately I couldn't contribute since I am banned from spending at the moment (buying a house!).

I just wondered how other people's sales were going in the UK this year. Good, bad, ugly? I'm not sure if I can take another bad weekend fair!
2  U.K. AND IRELAND / ENGLAND / Re: where I can get shrinky dink in London? on: April 02, 2008 07:09:40 AM
I'm pretty sure Paperchase on Tottenham Court Road do it - top floor, arts section!
3  CITY GUIDES FOR CRAFTSTERS / U.K. AND IRELAND / Re: Where to buy felt on: April 01, 2008 05:22:55 AM
I use these people

http://www.craft-felt.co.uk/index.htm

they are pretty cheap for online felt, and they deliver really quickly. It's acrylic felt, but it's pretty good if you want to use a fair amount.

If you're making softies, why not go for fleece or fur fabric - it doesn't push into holes so easily. Fur fabric is good at hiding rubbish ladder stitch (like mine) and fleece doesn't fray and is nice and soft (you can buy cheap fleece throws from Ikea and use them!).

McCullough and Wallis (off Oxford St) (fabric and trimmings)

John Lewis (bo-ring, since they have reduced much of their habby stock)

there's a cute trimmings shop off Sloane Square (don't remember which road it's on)

Hobbycraft (Watford or Greenford)

Liberty's is nice to browse, but I've never bought.

The Bead Shop - Covent Garden off seven dials (it's on a map at seven dials)

can't think of many others off the top of my head! HTH

Hi there!

This is my first Crafster post, so I just want to show you a few things I've made recently.

A whole heard of sheep!

The prototype!

Parsley the Lion

Prototype Ninjabreadman - I wanted to make him with white rick-rack and white pom-poms but they didn't have any at hobbycraft and I was too impatient! I have since made a better version!
