31  Men's Tank Undershirt + Wrap Skirt = Gypsy Dress in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by stoliedina on: May 15, 2008 08:22:41 AM
I had a wrap skirt that I loved, but it never stayed closed on the sides, so I was always showing off an indecent amount of leg. It has languished in my closet for years. No longer!

Here's what I did:

I cut off the waist band of the skirt, then folded it right sides together and sewed up the side seam.

I embellished a plain black tank with scrap fabric and ribbon that I bought for this project. I hacked it off a few inches below my bust.

I then eased the skirt onto the cropped tank and voila! Gypsy dress.

All in all this was a painless project. It cost me about $3.50 in materials (the new fancy ribbon). If you want to see more process pics, you can see my blog post about the dress here: http://www.geekxnerd.com/2008/05/wrap-skirt-to-gypsy-dress.html

Thanks for looking! Smiley

Just a quick update post - still knitting away, I haven't had a ton of crafting time lately:

How is everyone else doing?  Cheesy

More Christmas knitting progress - this time for my hubby! (I swear I'm not knitting *all* my gifts this year!)

My husband loves skull and cross bones - so I get him a skull and cross bones gift every christmas!

Wowza, these took me so long to finish, I've had so little crafting time lately!

The aforementioned leg warmers for one of my best friends (we're both dance teachers)

How's everyone else doing? Any progress?

I made another one! I'm so much happier with version 2.0 as well! As you might notice there is no top stitching evident anymore. I attached the yoyo to the backing and the trim last, by hand with a blind stitch so that the yoyo stays puffy and doesn't get all flattened out.

As you can see here, I have a few more in the works. I'll post them when I'm done. After that, no more brooches until I source some more toppers!
