Since my mom rules the roost in my household and always demands that my frugal and packrat dad throw out old stuff, I decided to assist my dad in a personal rebellion. My mom remodeled my room into an inferno of yellow while I was away at college, and mandated that my dad get rid of my desk and what he calls a "perfectly good desk chair" that my mom said "didn't match the decor." My brave father finally stood up to her tyranny and saved the chair in his shed. For father's day, I decided to renovate it into a garden chair - the garden is HIS turf. Here's the final project, details on production to follow:



It's definitely a little odd looking, but I started out wanting to make it really sloppy and natural. I threw a party and had my friends dye white enamel paint with blueberries, leaves, etc - some added gross stuff like ketchup and mustard, but I couldn't fault them since all I managed to originally find was white paint. We threw dirt and leaves on it, but it ended up looking ridiculously hideous. Also, my dog somehow smelled blueberries and ATE THEM OFF THE CHAIR, dying her entire face blue from the paint. It was enamel, so it didn't come off with nail polish remover, soap and water, acetone, baby oil... nothing! I ended up having to delicately trim the blue off. But that's besides the point.

So it looked hideous and I painstakingly stripped it down, deciding eventually to contrast the crazy outdoorsy look with pure white on the seat... kind of a metaphorical indoor/outdoor thing. And this is what I got! I sort of like it, but I think it's mostly just a cool idea that could be improved upon dramatically, and certainly by you guys. Any ideas?

ps. I lined the wild looking central part in rice using caulking... doesn't it look just like a continent?

so this dress is super silly, but someone was cleaning out the art room at my work and found this huge/amazing shirt with a recycling logo on it. they were about to throw it away but i threw myself in front of the oncoming train and saved it from the rubble. and made a dress! it's not very practical because of the cut, color, and print, but whatever. it didn't take very long so no harm done.

any tips on wearing a white dress? i tried the leggings but i feel a little odd... tights make me look a little muffin toppy.

hello! i literally just started sewing, and these are my first two reconstructions. i am very open to any suggestions or tips anyone may have, since i'm basically teaching myself how to sew, and i am admittedly not the best instructor, haha. i did like how the straps on the blue dress came out though.

dress #1: made from an XL t shirt at michaels (sale, 2 dollars, yahoo!) the straps are braided if you can't tell; probably my favorite part of the admittedly shoddy dress. front and back view.


ps. i already know my tanlines are just amazing, haha.

dress #2: i grew from 5'2 to a whopping 5'4, rendering a green shirt too short, so i sewed it to a black t shirt (also two bucks, and here's the result). i ended up having to add a zipper to the back (not shown) because i kept breaking the seams getting it on and off. front and side view, although i hope it's self explanatory and that you don't confuse my front for my back, or whatever.



any comments or suggestions are appreciated, i am a total newbie at this and i would really like to get better.

the picture is so hard to see, sorry, but i made some hair clips out of jujubes, the yuckiest candy ever. i glued on the candies and then coated it all with sparkly nail polish (to seal and shine!). now no sticky hair or anything gross like that. yahoo!

hello!

i collaged this out of construction paper and mod podge from an old glass iced tea bottle. then i got two 99 cent bunches of bright flowers and shoved them inside. it was so fun! a tiny bit messy, but my dorm room survived.

i toyed with the idea of adding other little appliques like colored paperclips or whatever, but decided against it.

what do you think; any ideas for a variation?

this will be my first post; i just joined a few minutes ago, but the other day i was thinking about how gross jujubes are, so i decided to play with them instead of eat them. i made a pencil holder! what do you think? can you think of ways to improve it?

(revision, craftster won't let me post a picture until i say some stuff, so i just commented a bunch and now it's not, indeed, my first post. irrelevant but i hate to be a liar, haha.)

i built it free form, with glue and then mod podge. later i added glitter. coating jujubes in nail polish works well too, but i thought this looked too big.
