1  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / my wedding in the mountains of julian on: March 01, 2011 08:43:40 PM
I  was married last june in Julian CA. A place famous for it's apple orchards and apple pies so that was worked into our "theme" . It turned out a 40's/high apple pie in the sky hopes wedding lol. I did the bouquets and the boutinears my self . Also baked hundreds of mini apple pie tarts for wedding favors. Our center pieces were apples and carnations around a little bowl with floating votives. It was a laid back wedding and lots of fun!

2  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / cupcake ornaments on: January 28, 2011 02:35:48 PM

Made a dozen of these for my sister this year. I am happy with how they turned out considering the took me three times as long as i thought they would with all the little bead "sprinkles" I had to sew on one at a time. Thanks for looking at any rate!
3  CLOTHING / Costumes: Completed Projects / christmas carol costumes on: January 28, 2011 02:30:33 PM
Here are the two costumes I wore in Julian stage company's production of a christmas carol 2010. I played two characters this year. Mrs. Fezziwig and Mrs, Fred. I was the most married lady in the play.
This is the Fezziwig costume before I revised the sleeves. It's bulk is made up of a thrifted bed sheet and a reconned vest plus some ribbon. I decided the sleeves weren't right for the period I was going for so..... Sorry no pictures of me in costume with the horrendous bee-hive Marie Antoinette wig .

Here is the bonnet I made for Mrs. fred out of the cover of my son's coloring book and some fur remnants I got at yet another thrift store.

And the collar I made to hide my blouses actual collar which was not period correct

And a front and back of the skirt I made for mrs. fred.

Phew! lots of pictures! Thank you for looking at my mess, I had a lot of fun making it and even more fun in the show.
4  CLOTHING / Costumes: Discussion and Questions / my victorian jacket recon from a thrifted find on: January 28, 2011 01:27:47 PM
First post in a long long time! I am in the process of making costume pieces for a local theater group here in julian. We have nooooo budget so most of everything has to be reconed from thrifted treasure. I like it better that way anyhoo. This was just a basic boxy jacket that I am turning  into a victorian waist coat. I would have liked there to be more volume in the back but alas I just don't have the material. I am also going to do a frankenstein job on the sleeves to make them puff sleeves. I will post my progress. Thanks for looking.

Just figured out how to post finally lol. So I am really interested in reconned clothes. I love the idea of recycling old things. So far I have mad two pencil skirts and two newborn sized sweaters ( I am due to have a baby in late november).  If any one could help me out with baby measurements (other than newborn) that would be uber sweet Smiley Thanks so much! Once i am allowed to post pics on here i will be glad to show every one my progress. Grin
