21  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Strawberry Fields Forever!!!!! (aka my obsession continues...) on: July 13, 2008 10:33:09 AM
OK, so I'm completely obsessed with Across the Universe and the Beatles...at least I'm not alone. My best friend is equally (if not more) obsessed, and her birthday was a couple days ago, so...Across the Universe shirt!!!!
I took in a large white T shirt to fit her, then sewed on a huge strawberry made from random T shirt scraps, then I used fabric paint to do the seeds. THEN, I cut out the words "Nothing is Real" (from the song Strawberry Fields Forever) out of black T shirt fabric and sewed that on...that was going to be it, but I went on vacation and I was bored, so I embroidered and fabric painted more stuff...which you'll see in the pics:

strawberry detail (embroidered with fabric paint seeds):

quote detail (Living is easy with eyes closed, also from the song):

detail on back ("Strawberry" is embroidered, but it took me like 4 hours, so "Fields Forever" is fabric paint):

there were a couple holes in the back, so I covered them with some of these (just made out of fabric with fabric paint seeds):

AND...on my new DRESS FORM with a skirt:

Guess what??? She liked it! YAY! here she is wearing it:

YAY! So...tell me what you think! I LOVE COMMENTS! =)

22  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / ugly pants+too small top+small child+me=SKIRT! YAY! on: July 12, 2008 07:35:51 AM
So we had friends visiting and their daughter is 8. She saw my sewing machine and boxes of clothes to be reconned, and insisted that I help her make something.
So, we took these absolutely hideous pink pants and a too small (for me, too big for her) tank top with this really cool print, and also some scraps of white T-shirt fabric...and made...this:

Here it is before we put the pocket on:e

and after (she insisted the pocket be straight up and down and in line with the rest of the skirt, I wanted to put it on all asymmetrical and such, but she won):

close up of pocket (which was a piece of fabric from the bottom hem of the pants, it had the cool embroidery already):

and here she is sewing (her seams were SO STRAIGHT, it was insane):

and here we are:
23  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / It's like Rock the Vote! Only Obama-fied!! on: June 24, 2008 10:22:04 AM
yeah, so this is one of my favorite things I've made so far, I'm very very proud of it!!!!!
It says Barack the Vote on it....which I thought was obvious, y'know, like rock the vote...but not a lot of people got it...they're like, huh? Like they think it's supposed to say like Barack: the vote or something...anyway...I'm rambling...so...pics!
Oh..it's made from an XL shirt and the letters are pieces of other T-shirt fabric I cut up...
this is what it looked like before:

and AFTER!:

here's another pic, just because:

close up of the top part:

yeah! so I love it!!! and I'm thinking of making more that say "Barack the vote," or "Barack and roll" or "yes we can" or just "obama '08" etc. and selling them at the farmers market and giving part of the profit to the Obama campaign...

BUT: I need opinions, should I leave the back plain, or add "Obama '08 Yes We Can!"Huh??
also: tell me what you think of it!!! yay!
24  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / blue dress thing =) on: June 20, 2008 11:39:03 AM

Anyway...I got this giant shirt at the thrift store (as usual, no before pics, sorry)
and...chopped it up..sewed...and stuff...  =)
and came up with this:

close up of the fabric:

and the buttons (which were already there, so I can't take credit for them...but I loooove them!!):

and....um. this is an "action shot" wooo!
Actually, I just like it because my boyfriend is smiling, which he never does in pictures....but yeah... =)

yay! So tell me what you think!!!! I love comments!
25  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Pocketses...precious pocketses...lots of pictureses too.... on: June 16, 2008 08:54:48 AM
This bag is custom made to fit all the crap I carry around =)
It's made from two t-shirts, one that says "Go vote Go run Go lead Go girl," from the White House project.
The other one is from Asian World Imports, a little free trade store where I work.
anyway...it can be worn with either side facing out:

or..

here's a closer up view:

and the close up of the lace on top:

AND...pockets! I LOVE pockets!!!!
This one is a little pocket to put...well, anything, in. I use it because I always carry ibuprofen and allergy pills around...so. yeah. It's also the perfect size for, um, feminine things. =)
It's just a back pocket from some pants.

Next: iPod pocket!

My iPod's not old...it's *retro* =P

AND: it's kind of hard to tell in this picture, but there's a little hole at the bottom of the iPod pocket, so I can plug in my headphones...I would love to say I did this on purpose, but really I made the pocket too small for the iPod and headphones both to fit in...oh well, it worked out:

Now this is like my favorite part of the bag! I ALWAYS lose my keys, so....a small plastic ring thingy (Don't really know what it's called):

and...I can hook my keys to it!!! WOO!

more pocketses:
this one is for my USB key (I know, I'm such a nerd):

And this one's for lip gloss:

yeah...so if you're still reading this and haven't been scared away by the millions of pics...tell me what you think!!!
Thanks!!

OK, so I went to the thrift store and saw this skirt...it was really ugly, but it had potential...
as usual, I forgot to take before pics =)
But I drew a lovely little picture with paint:

um. yeah. sorry for my crap drawing skills...
anyway....I chopped it up and came up with this:

it's all floofy! and small! Woo!!!
Here's a closer-up picture:

so..yeah. The waistband is from a pair of pants I had lying around...

anyway...tell me what you think!!!
27  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / T shirt bag!!! on: June 15, 2008 07:15:59 AM
This bag was inspired from one in Generation T, with a few changes....like the pocket  and also I hemmed the edges....
well, anyway...pics!

So tell me what you think! This is my first post on the bags/purses/wallets forum...so...yeah. =)
28  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / granny dress to cute skirt take 2!!!!! on: June 13, 2008 10:25:29 AM
so my first attempt at this was pretty good...so...I found another old granny dress at the thrift store..so..I didn't do a before pic, but here's this lovely drawing =):

it was even more ugly in real life
but...the finished product! YAY!

it's fastened with two snaps...

29  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / dress dress dress!!!!! NOW WITH ADORABLE PICTURES! YAY on: June 13, 2008 10:03:04 AM
So I had this red nightgown and I don't usually wear red, being a redhead...
so I've kind of been commissioned by this girl I babysit for to make her clothes...
so...this dress! wooooo!
maybe I should have posted under kids clothes, but...I'm wearing it in the pics =)
and it's totally something I would make for myself..so. yeah.
um...it fits me in a different way than it does her =) but I don't have any pics of her wearing it yet, I'll post some when I get them..
OK...PICS!
here's me wearing it...

30  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Lace up corset-y thing on: May 31, 2008 07:11:36 PM
So...I just got Generation T, and I made a whole bunch of new tops..yay!
anyway...this one laces up the back...like a corset kind of thing....and then I just chopped off the neckline and sleeves....so here's a pic...sorry for the crappy webcam quality:

and the back...it poofs out a bit under the ties and I don't know how to fix it...but otherwise I like it...

so...tell me what you think!!!!!
I LOVE comments, so...even if you hate it...tell me...
thanks!
