I received my bag from Kenners and it's fantastic!

I have a lot of diving swallow images in my wists, I just love the shape of this silhouette

The swallows are blanket-stitched around the edges.
I'm really pleased with the way Kenners put these fabrics together, and I love the tiny hint of flowers in the frill on the flap. I told her I like pretty but not fussy and she got the balance just right.

The flap pops closed and I have one interior zipped pocket

She also made me a matching keyring backed with felt.

This swap has been great fun and I'm so pleased with my bag!
Thank you MareMare for organising and sorting out our troubles, and thank you so much Kenners for making this bag for me Cheesy

What a great pair of bags to start the gallery! I love the shape of the flowered bag with the corduroy pockets.
I am now seriously worried about what I've sent...

Here is a little pic for Kenners

Hopefully it'll be with you today or tomorrow!

Thank you for posting pics Corduroy Cat, I stopped myself from logging on until the package came, just in case you'd done that! Cheesy

Thank you so much for the fantastic package. I was jealous of someone else here receiving the wordy magnets, so I squeaked a bit when I opened those!
How did you make the photo magnets??

The lavender sachet smells dreamy, and will live in my smalls drawer Smiley

Meemoo (shelter kitteh, not my choice of name!) knew there was something for him in there, and played silly buggers with the catnip parcel.

I didn't get a chance to photograph it until it had a couple of tooth and claw marks, so I'm glad Corduroy has a 'before' pic!

That was the last package to be received, so I'd like to thank you all for making this a really nice, easy first swap for me to organise.

This is what I sent to Kenners

The suit fabric with large checks and the small flowered cotton.
I also sent a couple of metres of brown ric rac, some spotty ribbon, a zip, poppers, buttons, a piece of faux leather and 4 wooden curtain rings.

Everything in my package was from thrift stores, except the ribbon and ric rac. I love thrift shopping for materials, as I like the idea that nobody else will have the same combination of fabrics as me.

I can't wait to see what you make Kenners!!

I decided not to sign up for this one, since my fuzzy buddy is allergic to everything and would be no fun to craft for Sad

I'm regretting my decision now and will definitely be stalking your gallery!

9  Re: Make a purse with this stuff Swap (Sign-ups 8/26-9/12; FIRST Sendout 9/26) in ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED by SalutingMagpies on: September 08, 2008 11:52:09 AM
Meganlorraine if you want my 2 cents, I'd say that because a messenger bag is a pretty simple shape, so you're ok to be a bit more adventurous/demanding with your fabric choice.

Could you test a piece of your waterproof fabric through your sewing machine? It'd be awful to knacker someone else's machine with your fabric, so if you can sew it without issues I'd say you'd probably be ok to send it.

Kenners that fabric is beautiful, I love the grey with the burgundy.

Can I ask for some opinions please?  These are the combinations of stash fabric I'm choosing between -

Wine colour + checked wool fabric; grey jersey + vintage orange crinolene-type stuff; brown suedette + floral heavy cotton; brown checked suit fabric + vintage flowery cotton.
I'm leaning towards one of the 2 bottom ones, but can't make my mind up.
Any thoughts?

10  Re: Yarnies Scavenger Hunt 2 ~ Gallery of Goodness ~ in The Swap Gallery by SalutingMagpies on: September 03, 2008 08:27:10 AM
Scuse me while I show myself up in front of you knowledgeable people Cheesy
I meant to ask when I posted pics of my package.
What is the little twist of thread that came with my llama yarn? It's on the right in this pic (click for bigger) and feels a lot like embroidery floss. What is it used for?
As it's the same colour as the yarn, I would guess it might be for seaming the finished knitted piece?
I've not bought yarn with one of these before, is it a commont thing?
