61  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / First doll on: May 21, 2008 10:11:46 PM

A few weeks before mother's day I decided I was going to make a doll for mum. I had no expirence in dollmaking but I just dived in. I made the pattern myself, which I then lost.

Mum was thrilled and was shocked to learn that I had made her. After I told her I'd made her she said "I will never doubt you again!"   Tongue

We named her Rohypsi

The other day I was a given a bag of old clothes. There was huge old dress qith floral print and I thought "That fabric would make some nice bloomers."

64  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Lining flannel pants question on: May 01, 2008 06:14:42 PM
I bought some cotton flannel the other day and dyed it purple. I planned to make a pair of pants out of it but now I'm worried that it might wear out too quickly. I was thinking of having a double layer of fabric so the pants would be warmer/not wear out. The idea of lined pants may be a strange one, but I can't think of any reason why it wouldn't work. Then again I've never made pants before. Thoughts on this idea would be greatly appreciated.

65  CITY GUIDES FOR CRAFTSTERS / AUSTRALIA / Australians, where do you get your fabric? on: April 27, 2008 05:14:23 AM
Maybe I haven't been looking hard enough, but every fabric shop I've been to, and I haven't found many here in Adelaide, haven't had what I wanted. All I want is jersey fabric...you wouldn't imagine that would be too hard to find. But well, it is. That being said I do have fairly poor eyesight.  Tongue So... Australians, where do you get your fabric? Online or otherwise. Though, it might be a tad hard to get to a fabric store in Melbourne...

Thanks in advance
