I'm so chuffed at how simple this was.  All I did was get a metre of fabric (I used cotton voile), sew together two sides so it formed a long tube, folded the tube in half so it was still a tube but half as long. Then I sewed along the top 1.5cm from the edge to make a casing for elastic, unpicked a bit of the first seam to make a hole for the elastic to go through, put the elastic in and tada! I have a half slip.



I didn't even need to hem it because the bottom is a selvedge.



I have been needing a half slip for ages, but never got around to making one. But I love how simple and quick this was to make. 

I have been working on a dress for a costume party I'm having for my 18th. The original idea was to go as a vampire bride, but I think this outfit makes me look like a witch.  All I need is a broomstick. haha I wonder if I can hire one from a costume shop. Anyway, onto photos!



My friends and I had a photoshoot in the botanic gardens. It was gorgeous day.

I really had fun making this. That's my second corset ever, I'm really pleased with it. The fabric for the blouse and skirt is a shimmery satin, my first time working with anything slippery. It wasn't too bad, though. Afterwards, when taking off the corset I had lines imprinted all down my torso from the boning, it looked hilarious.  I couldn't believe how much boning I needed for the corset. I used between 5 and 7 metres and had to make two extra trips to the shop to get more.

My brother and I are holding a costume party and I'm going as a vampire bride. I made this veil out of some gorgeous chantilly lace.

So I'm making a dress for a costume party/formal wear competition, and I needed to make a corset. Didn't really know where to start, so searched the web for helpful hints. After lots of searching, I got fragments of help. But I put them together and voila! My first (of many, many, many) corset.



(Please excuse the facial expression and hair, I just got up) It fits perfectly and its uber comfortable.



I was too lazy to add a modesty panel (its only a practice one, anyway) and I still need to do the binding. I hate binding. :/



The next one I make I'll add more boning so there are less wrinkles. I used plastic cable ties, so next time I'll use proper boning.



Woops, I didn't notice that loose thread. The next one I make will have a busk instead of just lacing.

After being inspired from looking at all the gorgeous jewellery on this board, I decided to try my hand at making earrings. I'm a sewer, but when I was in primary school I loved making jewellery. I haven't made any since then, haha.



These are the first pair I made. (I also dabble in crochet from time to time)

I enjoyed making them and I think I've rekindled my love of jewellery making. So expect to see more (better) creations from me.

I was making some fabric yo-yos for a project this morning and I thought "These would make really cute earings!" So I got the glue gun and some stud bases and set to work.



I made four pairs of different coloured yo-yos and then glued them onto the stud bases.

I bought a rotary cutter a while ago only to find that it really isn't any good at all. The brand was sullivans.
I was wondering whether anyone here can reccommend a good brand for rotary cutters? I don't want to end up spending lots of money only to find out it wasn't worth it. Thanks.

My brother's best friend's wedding is coming up (In three days!!) and I needed something to wear. So once I got my outfit all together I thought, "Hmm, it still needs something." So I made this neck warmer.


 Close up of the button. I crocheted the little flower, it came out a bit wonky, but I still think it's cute.


The edging took ages to crochet, but I did it while watching tv so it wasn't so bad.



The orange I had leftover from a scarf I made for a friend, it's knitted. Since this is a sort of combination of crochet and knit I wasn't sure where to put it but the majority of it is knitted so... And yes, that is the skirt I'm going to be wearing. (Don't worry, I will be wearing bloomers and tights underneath.  )

My brother and I are holding a costume party in september, and I'm planning to dress up as a bellydancer. I want to make a coin bra, I've found instructions how to cover a bra to make it ready to decorate, but not how to decorate it. I'm pretty sure I'd be able to work it out myself. But I was wandering if anyone who's had experince making one could give me a few pointers?

My friend's 20th is coming up, and I wanted to give her an awesome gift. So I decided something handmade would do the trick. I had some orange stretchy material lying around that I wasn't using, so I thought I thought I'd experiment with "t-shirt" yarn. I cut the fabric into strips then sewed them end to end so it was one mega long strip. It took forever but not as long as I'd first thought. I paired it with some turquoise yarn and made this:




It's not quite so bright in real life. I knitted it on 15mm needles and it took maybe a couple of hours.



I crocheted the little flower and covered the button with the same orange fabric and then hot glued them onto a pin. I can't wait to give it to her but I have to wait  26 days.
