1  Washington / Washington: West / Craft My Stash LIVE anyone? on: February 21, 2009 08:36:21 AM
A few years ago I got together with a few people and we all brought stuff from our stash so that the others could craft with it! It was a blast and we spent a whole day playing and making things. Would anyone be interested? I am in Puyallup but can travel Seattle to Olympia. The only thing we would need is a place to meet.

I do have an idea about the library. They offer meeting rooms for free and we can bring in food and drink so everyone could bring something. I think we could get a room for a day, and I am going to check about electrical outlets in case we want to bring in a sewing machine or iron... or coffee pots... this is WA  Cheesy  They also have free WiFi so we could share the fun online.

Most of the branches are open on Saturday and many are open on Sunday too.

Please PM me if you are interested!!
2  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Gatorade caps on: January 17, 2009 12:02:43 AM
I have a friend who drinks tons of gatorade and we recycle the bottles but can't recycle the caps. They are the right size for something but I haven't figured out what yet. Any ideas?

Thanks!
3  CRAFTING FOR GOOD AND NOT EVIL / Crafty Charitable/Social Causes / Looking for stars! on: September 13, 2008 12:04:21 AM
I am designing a tree for Festival of Trees which is an annual fund raiser for MaryBridge Children's Hospital in Tacoma, WA. This is my first year designing and I am really excited!!

http://news.multicare.org/cgi-bin/multicare.dll/multicare/subnoimage2.do?channelName=FOT&programId=22203&pageTitle=FOT0Home&theme=0

I am looking for donations from around the world of hand crafted stars. There is a pretty strict size limit and color pallet which I know can be tough, but it is only a 4' tree and will have limited space.  If you would prefer to make a star related item instead of an ornament, I have a 5' x 10' space to fill!! I can put boxes in the area, but they have to have something in them so other things besides ornaments would be great!!

I can give receipts for all items donated.

The tree will be auctioned off with everything on the tree and in the floor space. Last year the top tree sold for $60,000, yeah, that's sixty thousand Smiley It included a trip to Russia and some other things. I don't think I will get that much, but a couple thousand would be great!!! If this goes well, next year I will design a 7' tree Smiley

If this sounds like something you would like to contribute to please pm me and I can give you more details.

Thanks!
4  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / What were you thinking? Swap! on: August 01, 2008 03:31:46 PM
Ever pick up stuff and think to yourself, "I can do something with this but I don't know what, but I am sure I will think of something!" which of course leaves us crafty crafters with boxes of "stuff" that we knew would be good for something! Well, how about we do an exchange of said "stuff"? For instance, I have these realy cool plastic ends that you find on rolls of paper used by a blue print machine, a bunch of cds that could be used for something, a few handfuls of chop stix, and of course there is the basics such as material and the odd button or three. Then there are these plastic tubes, balls of polymar clay that are scraps rolled into weird colors, a bag of glass mosaic peices that I love but the colors are unusual, etc...
5  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Art Deco? on: July 13, 2008 11:38:42 AM
I love Art Deco and would love to join something like this! I am just way to busy to be an Organizer but I would if I could!!
6  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / Body Wash basics? on: May 10, 2008 02:38:51 PM
I don't use regular bar soap because we have a septic system and I would like to make my own body wash. I found one recipe but it calls for... bar soap that has been shredded. (the other soaps on this site smell good without even actually smelling them!)

http://www.make-stuff.com/formulas/soap.html

Will this harden back up after it is down the drain? Can I use a 100% glycerin bar instead of buying liquid? I know these are probably less than intelligent questions, but I just had this idea that I should make my own.
7  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Macro Azure on: April 26, 2008 01:17:40 AM
This is my macaw Azure. I took this photo a couple of years ago when we bought a huge blue wheelbarrow and let her play in it. Throw in a couple of chew towels (they had no chance of survival) and we had a perfect photo opportunity  Grin I especially love how you can see the fine filaments (don't know what else to call them) of the feathers.
