I have been gone for awhile not being very crafty. I decided that July was a good month to get back to my craftyness so I did. I have changed my focus a little, I now want to make as much baby stuff and Christmas stuff as I can done, so that when I have my baby in November I don't have to worry about it. I also want to finish all my WIP before then (yeah right I really don't think this will happen, but one can dream)

24  Yummy Table Runner in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by DeannaLynn06 on: March 08, 2009 09:21:46 PM
I went to the Puyallup Sew Expo last weekend and had a blast. It was my first time at an expo and now I am addicted. I went knowing that I would fall in love with so much cool stuff. What I didn't know was that I wouldn't walk out with everything.

I have been wanting to buy this Farmer's Market Fabric from RJR fabrics for a while now, but I like to see my fabric in person first. I saw a sample table runner displayed with the fabric and had to go on search. I found it and they even had the runner in little kits. Normally I don't buy kits, I prefer to pick my own fabrics and get larger cuts so I have the extra for other projects, but this was the stuff I wanted so I spurgled and got the kit and pattern.

I had an American Sewing Guild meeting on Wednesday to show off what we got at expo. I wanted to show the finished product so I worked all Wednesday morning to finish it; however, in this kit they didn't give me enough fabric for the binding (I said I didn't like kits). I went to the quilting store that our meeting was at and bought the amount I needed and finished it the next day.

I have never hand sewn my binding and I did for this. I now think the hand sewing is sort of relaxing and I know why so many people do it.

Anyhow on to the pictures:

This fabric is so yummy, it makes me hungry every time I look at it.

This week I didn't use up stash, but I did use the fabric I bought at Sew Expo! It didn't sit long enough to be stash, and it gave ideas to use up my stash for other things.

It is using Farmer's Market from RJR Fabric. I love this fabric and it makes me hungry every time I look at it.
I am going to make another one for my mom this week to go with the place mats and napkins I am going to make for her birthday.

I also got 3 basic crochet washcloths finished and 2 sewn potholders.

27  Re: 2009 Fat Quarter Swap Gallery in The Swap Gallery by DeannaLynn06 on: March 02, 2009 09:24:49 AM
I got my fabric from sixblueirises the other day and I finally am getting to the pictures. She sent some really great fabric. one of them was even on my wists.

She sent two of the great and brown flower so I could make a tote bag. The 1/2 yard is the other green flower fabric (at the bottom) I can't wait to dig into this fabric, I might make something today depending on time. I will post pics when I am finished.

28  Owl Purse (using 2 new skills for me) in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by DeannaLynn06 on: February 11, 2009 06:17:02 PM
OMG, So I know I'm kind of an over achiever, but I already made something with the fabric I got today in the 2009 Fat Quarter Swap. I was going to do a large tote, but I have been drooling over the Sew, Mama, Sew tutorial they put up yesterday using just 2 fat quarters. I knew as soon as I saw the owl fabric it would make the perfect purse. I dug out my handle that I never had a use for and got to work. Let me tell you, this is the most time I have ever spent on a purse. It took me 2.5 hours from start to finish. I accomplished following 4 different tutorials, learning 2 new skills (zippered pocket, and magnetic clasps). I am so proud of this purse, I haven't taken the grin off my face, and I want to go somewhere just to show it off. So here it is:

I managed to only make one mistake. I accidentally cut one of the owl pieces upside down, but I caught it before I sewed anything, so I was able to cut a new piece. I am going to make a wallet to match, later tonight or tomorrow.

Comments and Criticism welcome.

I just got mine out of the mailbox. I love the fabrics I got, they are just my style.

The whole lot:

The cute little applique:

The vintage toy fabric:

The other 4 pieces. I asked her to send two of the same fabric so I can make a tote bag so I got two of the pink and black polka dot:

Thank you so much nemejia!
