1  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Empty RX Containers? on: July 17, 2010 01:16:06 PM
My dad goes through a TON of meds and has a huge bag full of old medicine containers (orange ones) that vary in size. I'm wondering what to do with them? I don't need them for anything small like beads, etc. I want to incorporate them somehow into the game room im making.

I thought about stacking them for decoration in the corners....not sure..ideas?
2  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / Guest Room + Game Room - ideas please? on: July 16, 2010 02:07:23 AM
Hi All-

My boyfriend and I have a two bedroom apartment, of which we finally decided on what to do with our spare room.

We decided to turn it into a game/guest room, and I was wondering if anyone had any ideas for the game portion. My boyfriend LOVES Final Fantasy, Mario and Zelda. I'm kind of wondering how I can make the room look super sweet but still not overloaded because it is paired with a guest room. Any thoughts?

Thanks!
Jen
3  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / Where to build a crafty-business website online & where to get templates? on: October 20, 2009 06:19:29 AM
Hi ladies-

I need your help =) I run a mini wedding design business (doing favor, monograms, etc) and am looking to build a PROFESSIONAL website! =) I am currently on blogger, and it doesn't look the greatest.

I used to LOVE geocities, but they are closing down soon! (DARN!) and love their drag and drop online editor. Know any places similar?

I know someone from here who used to run lemonade accessories, and I loved their site but lost all the hosting info when I got a new computer, help me out?

Post any ideas please for where I could 1) Design a site or 2) get a template!

If you help, I will link you on my site to your business! =) THANKS!  Grin
4  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Discussion and Questions / Can anyone make me an Ewok??? (swap?) on: July 17, 2009 03:15:28 AM
Hi..I've never done a swap on here before...but maybe someone can help me out here.

So..my boyfriend is OBSESSED with Star Wars - he LOVES those Ewok's in the one movie (feel free to google.) For our 5 1/2 year anniversary..or even Christmas I was looking to have a stuffed plush made for him of an Ewok. The toy ones online are Waaaaaaaaaaaay to expensive (hey, I'm not rich - I'm in college!! Wink) so..I was wondering if anyone knew how to make one?doesn't have to be perfect! Please message me, or e-mail me at: jmd.designs@yahoo.com. I would GREATLY appreciate it!!

6  COOKING / Dessert / Fruit Trees! Don't waste money on those edible arrangements! on: May 16, 2009 01:20:20 PM
So for my friends bridal shower a couple weekends ago, I made her these fruit trees. I made two. The total with all the fruit was $20 for two of these trees - half the cost of an actual edible arrangement, and for my price, I got two!

I used honeydew, muskmelon, pineapple, bananas and strawberries. I saved the top (leafy) part of the pineapple to stick the skewers in. A tip, place the top of the pineapple on a stable plate before starting, and ALSO: stick a piece of pineapple on the end of the skewer, it keeps the other fruit from sliding down the stick.

She loved these, and I'm still gloating mentally about how good they turned out, even though it was simple, and I'm sure anyone could do it..haha.

Ps) We used this for a fondue station....so yummy!

7  COOKING / Dessert / Louis Vuitton cake for my boyfriend's sister on: May 16, 2009 10:37:10 AM
So, I felt like being uber creative, so I decided to make this cake for my boyfriend's sister. She LOVES designer purses, so...I felt an itch of inspiration here.

This was my FIRST cake ever using fondant...and I think this cake weighed like 7-10lbs I SWEAR.

Sorry, I don't have a tut up yet, but basically, I took a strawberry pink cake mix, made the cake in a rectangle pan, and shaped it when cool to the shape of the purse. (Cut off the corners). I then added butter cream frosting, then rolled out white fondant. I cut and trimmed, and made the handle, and little pieces for the purse. I then took those cake gels and designed the purse. Pretty simple, but very hard if your a perfectionist..like me. THOUGH, this is far from perfect!

What ya think? =) Grin
