1  Re: The Not Your Average Mommy Swap Gallery in The Swap Gallery by HalloweenNut on: September 17, 2008 02:50:35 PM
Okay, folks... check out this amazing package of Halloween-y goodness that was sent to me by happykat Shocked :

First - a tantalizing overview:

Two decks of Universal Classic Monster-themed playing cards:

An absolutely precious skull mug with cinnamon potpourri:

A padded DVD carry case to take scary movies to Halloween parties (and she was even sweet enough to include some movies):

And last but by NO means least - the coolest travel pillow I've ever seen, and the fantastic pillowcase is even velcro-ed for easy removal for washing:

All I can say is "WOW"... this is a wonderful and fun swap package!!  Thank you so very, VERY much, happykat!!   Grin

I too got a kick ass package from HalloweenNut today. My pics are still uploading. I will be back to post them in a few minutes!

I'm so glad you like everything...  Smiley  Tracking shows that the package you sent me delivered this morning.  I can't wait to get home!!  Did someone slow the clocks down, here at work?HuhWink

Edit:  YAY!!  I'm home, and have an AMAZING zombie package of goodies from sundayafternoonhousewife!!  Observe:

Oh - nothing like gift-wrapped goodies!!  What to open first?  Well - the enclosed note advised me to go in order, so-o-o-o-o-o...

#1...!!  A CD entitled "Harley Poe and the Dead Vampires"!!  This was added as an extra...  sundayafternoonhousewife knows one of the band members.  I can't wait to listen - I love the cover and the song titles already!!  Smiley

#2...!!  A zombie/vampire invasion escape kit, chock-full of  survival tips and suggestions, cleverly disguised as a book!!  I'm so happy to have a swap partner who's clearly concerned about my well-being...

#3...!!  A pack of excellent screen print cards with some of my favorite zombie quotes on them.  I won't have to settle for vampire stationery for quite some time!!

#4...!!  A cute little zombie buddy!!  This picture does him NO justice - he's super-sweet, with his little dangly eye, bloody drool, and exposed brain.  This little guy's adorable - he'll probably come with me to work, to amuse and confuse!!

#5...!!  An amazing "I <3 Zombies" bag!!  A perfect quick-pack for when you have to bug out fast due to approaching living dead!!  In the meantime, though, it'll make an awesome knitting bag - I've definitely been needing a bag just this size.

So there you have it - a package of zombie amazingness!!  Thank you very much, sundayafternoonhousewife - I love everything!!  Cheesy  You're an awesome swap partner!!

3  Re: 13 Days of Halloween Swap 2008 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by HalloweenNut on: June 16, 2008 03:11:45 PM
Skating in a little late, but here we go...

On the 13th day of Halloween, Beckster gave to me-e-e-e-e-e...

13 horror movie magnets (LOVE these - she even managed to find some of my favorite movies to "magnetize"!

On the 12th day of Halloween, Beckster gave to me....

12 kitschy/creepy fun things (I'm going to have to hide these before my daughter tries to make off with them - these are seriously fun!!  The vampire nerds are already history, though... I LOVE nerds...)

On the 11th day of Halloween, Beckster gave to me....

A cool ceramic kitty with a LOT on his mind!!  Electric tea lights, gift tags, and vampire candy!!  Cheesy

On the 10th day of Halloween, Beckster gave to me...

An adorable Halloween tree and a ton of teeny ornaments!!

On the 9th day of Halloween, Beckster gave to me...

A Halloweeny kitchen set - crocheted dishrags, a felted bowl, black candles, and spooky cookie cutters!!

On the 8th day of Halloween, Beckster gave to me...

An indoor decorating kit - FANTASTIC crocheted eyeballs, a mini-skull, a mini-tombstone, spider webbing, a string of purple lights, and two cool "add-water-to-make-'em-grow" toys!!  AND as an add to Day 8 (the package was hiding from my on Day Cool, a VERY excellent picture frame!

On the 7th day of Halloween, Beckster gave to me...

6 adorable bottle-cap magnets and a jar of creepy stuff for crafting (skulls, skeletal hands, bugs, etc...)

On the 6th day of Halloween, Beckster gave to me...

6 cork-board eyeball coasters and an assortment of Jelly Bellies!!  Jelly Bellies are ALWAYS nom-alicious!!  The coasters are so cute and clever - maybe I can finally convince my kids to use coasters by telling them that I'll "see" it if they don't...   Cheesy

On the 5th day of Halloween, Beckster gave to me...

A "Trick-or-Treating in New England" survival pack - fingerless gloves and a calorimetry (it gets COLD up here during TOT'ing), some red tie-on horns, some Nerds (I LOVE Nerds!) in case the candy selection is grim, a sweet Happy Halloween banner that will be perfect for a party decoration!

On the 4th day of Halloween, Beckster gave to me...

A fantastic knitting kit - 2 skeins of yarn (in fabulous colors), a knitting roll, and a set of needles with eyeballs on top!

On the 3rd day of Halloween, Beckster gave to me....

More warm snugglies - a crocheted hat, scarf, and slippers!!  Beckster must be psychic - our Halloween was a bit chilly this year!!

On the second day of Halloween, Beckster gave to me...

A cozy lapghan and the coolest wall clock I've ever seen!!  The lapghan is perfect for websurfing late at night, and for when the cat wants to jump up on my lap and snuggle in, and the clock is amazing!!  Once I get last my post-Halloween exhaustion, I'll post a better picture.

And finally...

On the fist day of Halloween, Beckster gave to me.....

A gorgeous, wonderful, PERFECT skull handbag!!  Words really do fail me in expressing how cool this is!!  Thank you so VERY much, Beckster, and a HUGE thanks to Sunday for coordinating this swap!!  Cheesy

I received my amazing and deeply appreciated swap package from oneredboot yesterday.  I'm telling you - she must be psychic - she sent me two things I was actively in the market for (a knitting needle roll and a stitch marker holder), as well as my favorite candy in the whole world (JellyBellys):

I couldn't be happier - THANK you SO much, oneredboot!!   Grin  I hope you like the items I'm sending you just as much...

P.S.  I didn't wind up decimating the JellyBellys already all by myself - I  had help from my daughter and one of her friends who happened to be sleeping over last night... LOLOLOLOLOL...)

6  The 10.4th Doctor... in Knitting: Completed Projects by HalloweenNut on: April 19, 2008 10:10:39 AM
10, for the nifty (and out-of-focus) David Tennant-style Sonic Screwdriver, and 4 for the super-long Tom Baker season 12 scarf.  Hence, the 10.4th Doctor - my personal favorite (okay - I'm biased - he's my husband)  Wink

I started the scarf for him the second week of January, and it took me about a month.  There was still PLENTY of time left in the winter for him to get use out of it.  I think that this scarf may have been one of THIS doctor's favorite "companions".

Oh, and... the pattern came directly from the fine folks at http://www.doctorwhoscarf.com

7  Finished top-down raglan from KAL... My FIRST finished sweater!! in Knitting: Completed Projects by HalloweenNut on: April 19, 2008 08:57:16 AM
I'm so HAPPY... (see the self-satisfied grin?  Ignore the "morning face".  LOLOLOL...)  I just finished this morning and did all my weaving in.  I decided not to block since it's acrylic, and I think it looked fine kinda slouchy, anyway:

I made this using the pattern that Knittyknitter posted in the KAL section under the "Beginner's Top-Down-Raglan (patt. incl.)" - thank you, Knittyknitter!!  ::waves::  This is an extra-large (for obvious reasons...  Wink ).  Hope you all like!!  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

Here's the KAL forum with the pattern...

Well - at this point, I have the knitting done completely on the body of the sweater - only the sleeves (and the weaving in/blocking) to go.  I'm going to get a current pic up in the next day or so - I'm not sure what's going on with my DCam, but the action shots I took today are dreadfully blurry.  Here's one I took a few days ago that shows some of the progress...
