11  Dora, nintendo creatures, felix the cat birthday present in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by skuldintape on: February 02, 2009 05:21:19 AM
First of all, I DID NOT DO THIS. A friend of mine drew this for me for my birthday, and I just had to share it. Basically, I love ALL the things in the picture (I have an awful lot of Dora the Explorer merchandise for a 20 year old woman), so when this arrived in the post, it was the nicest suprise ever! It was sketched in pencil and done over with a regular black pen. The pride of my mantlepiece.

12  Smashing Pumpkins t-shirt +curtains ---> dress in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by skuldintape on: February 02, 2009 05:18:26 AM
yay! This weekend I was finally able to pull some sewing time out of a sea of deadlines, and here's the result. Combination of a big Smashing Pumpkins t-shirt kindly donated by my boyfriend, and some awesome blue tartan curtains. I was gonna sew the straps on at the back but I liked how it looked as a halterneck. I left the straps nice and long so I could sew them on as straps later if I wanted.

Excuse my silly face, was laughing at something stoopid. Also the pictures came out kinda grainy.......

13  science ball dress in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by skuldintape on: November 10, 2008 01:58:14 AM
Back from her travels, my friend gave me a birthday gift of me some lovely red and black material made by a Tanzanians tribe. Though only a novice sewer, I didn't want this to go to waste. So I decided to put it towards my outfit for the forthcoming Science Ball!
I kind've just made it up as I went along. A big black t-shirt was used for the waistband (I didn't realize until it was all sewed up that the t-shirt was filthy  Roll Eyes . It went a bit curious at the back, so I made a bustle, shown here attached with a safety pin (I figured my day to day wear is covered in safety pins - why should this outfit escape this treatment entirely?) With the leftover bits I made a corsage, using a tutorial I found somewhere on the net. when I refind the website I found it on, I'll edit this post with reference.
Comments/criticism appreciated!

Silly me! I didn't buy enough ribbon to do up back entirely....oh well, it stayed on me (most of the night anyway, but I think that was less to do with the dress and more to do with masses of wine consumed and crazy dancing  Smiley )

14  curtains ---> tartan skull skirt in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by skuldintape on: October 20, 2008 12:15:25 PM
I love buying sheets and curtains in charity shops, so much cheaper than buying material in 'real' shops.
I saved up during the summer and bought myself a sewing machine. Basically teaching myself and making it up as I go along.
This skirt was one of the 1st applique type things I did with the machine, and I'm thrilled with it! Sorry for the stupid picture, my boyfriend was making me laugh.....Also sorry they're sideways.

15  Star hair clips (& domino bobble) in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by skuldintape on: August 21, 2008 08:14:29 AM
Just some leetle things for my first craft that I've actually posted....up until now I've been too shy, everything else here is so good!

Sorry they're so blurry....

My favourite one:

And while we're here, a domino bobble I made with a drill and elastic.

Any comments/criticism (I can take it!) welcome and appreciated.
