Back from her travels, my friend gave me a birthday gift of me some lovely red and black material made by a Tanzanians tribe. Though only a novice sewer, I didn't want this to go to waste. So I decided to put it towards my outfit for the forthcoming Science Ball!
I kind've just made it up as I went along. A big black t-shirt was used for the waistband (I didn't realize until it was all sewed up that the t-shirt was filthy
. It went a bit curious at the back, so I made a bustle, shown here attached with a safety pin (I figured my day to day wear is covered in safety pins - why should this outfit escape this treatment entirely?) With the leftover bits I made a corsage, using a tutorial I found somewhere on the net. when I refind the website I found it on, I'll edit this post with reference.
Silly me! I didn't buy enough ribbon to do up back entirely....oh well, it stayed on me (most of the night anyway, but I think that was less to do with the dress and more to do with masses of wine consumed and crazy dancing
