21  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Going for the Gold on: May 12, 2014 10:26:48 AM
I do not wear gold tone jewelry.  Haven't in more years than I can remember.  I have a lot of jewelry and the closest I get to gold is some bronze things and even those are few and far between.  Imagine my surprise when on Christmas morning the gift my daughter got me with her own money was a little gold pendant.  She was so proud of this gift.  Of course I loved the thought behind it and have worn it a few times but I never had any earrings or a bracelet to wear with it.  I decided I needed something so I bought some gold tone supplies and went for it.  Here is what I came up with.

Bracelet using beads and jump rings threaded onto memory wire.

These awesome stones just happened to be on clearance so I snagged them to make my earrings.

I have come to realize that maybe I am not alone in the gold vs silver thing because there were literally NO gold tone charms to be found.  Tons of silver and nickel but not much gold.
22  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Washi Tape Frame on: May 05, 2014 10:22:04 AM
I have been wanting to play with all the washi tape I have been collecting and have been quite inspired by things I have seen here and on Pinterest.  I decided to start small and decorate a cheap wooden frame I got from Michaels.  I originally wanted the tapes to go diagonal across the frame but for some reason it wasn't working for me so I went with straight lines.

I obviously got distracted at some point and screwed up my pattern of alternating tapes....
23  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Skully Jewelry on: April 28, 2014 09:51:41 AM
I made some jewelry for my partner in the Skull Swap.  For the bracelet I used memory wire, some beads that reminded me of bone, tiny red hearts, a flower button, and a clay skull.  Red and turquoise is on of my favorite color combos so I just love how this turned out!

I also had these wooden tiles with holes punched in them that I wanted to play with.  Luckily I had some Dia De Los Muertos stickers that fit on the tiles perfectly!  I stuck the stickers on the tiles, trimmed any overhang, then sealed them with Mod Podge before covering them with Diamond Glaze.  The first one I sent to my partner and the second one I kept for myself.

24  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Skull Girl Hoop on: April 28, 2014 09:47:25 AM
I wanted to stitch something up for my partner in the Skull Swap, I had a regular old skull pattern I was going to use but then I found this one.  I purchased it from Urban Threads ages ago and never did anything with it.  Since I know my partner also likes Dia De Los Muertos I decided to stitch it up.  I used a back stitch for everything except for around the eyes and her nose which are done in satin stitching.

25  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Regal Seahorse on: April 21, 2014 10:07:32 AM
This is my Under the Sea themed hoop for the April hoopla along.  I got the pattern on Etsy

I used a back stitch, a chain stitch, and a few french knots to complete the project.  I LOVE the look of the chain stitch but am not as impressed with the back stitch on the sea shells...  The chain stitch is so easy if you use the cheater method that I think I will try to incorporate it into more pieces...

26  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Spring Embroidery on: April 10, 2014 09:50:37 AM
I made this spring time hoopla for my partner in the Dreaming of Spring Swap.  The pattern comes from Polka and Bloom.  This pattern just made me smile and think of all kinds of fun spring things.

27  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Easter / Easter Wreath on: April 10, 2014 09:43:14 AM
I made this yarn wrapped wreath for my partner in the Dreaming of Spring swap.  I found the perfect skein of yarn with all these fun spring colors to use!  Nice to only have to work with one skein since I every time I touch yarn it becomes a tangled mess!

28  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Typograhphy Shrine on: April 02, 2014 09:23:44 AM
I did a personal swap with Breegy for all the images I used for the earrings I posted a while ago.  She asked for a shrine with either a typography or graphic design theme.  I went with typography and this is what I came up with for her.

The front:

the back:

I used mini punctuation stamps for the base, washi tape, paper, paint, and random numbers and letters I found at Michaels and in my stash.
29  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Lots of New Earrings! on: March 17, 2014 03:25:15 PM
So my 9 year old son BEGGED me to let him get his ears pierced for two years.  I finally caved and let him do it last summer.  The problem is finding masculine earrings for him.  He had wanted and wore some fake diamond studs for a while (wanting to be like his dad) but got made fun of and called a girl Sad  So I scoured Etsy and found some really neat earrings but they were rather expensive.  I decided I could make them myself.  Our fellow craftster Breegy had mentioned that she was graphic designer so I asked her to do a personal swap with me for 10mm images.  I ordered the earring supplies and made all these earrings for my kids over the weekend.  I will keep a few pairs for myself but they were both super excited and my son now has quite a few pairs of boy themed earrings to choose from.  Some of the Mod Podge isn't 100% dry on these which is why a few of them still appear cloudy...

30  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / 20 Minute Tote on: March 10, 2014 10:07:53 AM
This is the second tote bag I have made using this tutorial from The Purl Bee.  I made this bag for my partner in the Box of Color Swap.  It does come together quickly but I wish it was lined. I suppose it wouldn't be that hard to add a lining into if you wanted though.
