141  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Family Galaxy Shirts on: July 23, 2013 09:19:57 AM
I am sure everyone has seen galaxy goodies before.  There are tutorials and photos all ove the web and on Pinterest.  I never really gave them much thought intil My BFF went to Vegas and she made one.  Now she is not crafty at all and I figured if she could do it then so could I.  I also thought it would be fun for my kids to make their own too.  So we grabbed bleach, a spray bottle, and fabric paint and went to work.  The first thing you want to do is spray your shirts with bleach.  I used a water bottle with 1/2 bleach and 1/2 water.    after spraying let them dry out a bit then wash/ rinse and dry.  After they dried out we started with some watered down purple fabric paint, a foam brush, and added some color.  Then we used watered down blue then a bit of yellow for accents.

Here is my daughters shirt

my sons

and mine

I love that there is no right or wrong way to do this and how each is unique.

This swap is a mini 13 days of Halloween swap. Instead of opening all your presents at once like in other swaps, we count down the days to halloween. you will open day 13 on October the 1st, day 12 on October the 2nd and so on until 10/13.
We will begin to open gifts on 10/1 through 10/13
The first day does NOT have to be a container of some sort.

-A minimum of 13 items, one for each day.
-At least 6 crafted items must be sent, equal to a small (Under $10 or under two hours to craft)
-Spoiling is okay but do not expect the same in return.
-You must post in the thread at least once a week
-You must PM both your partner and organizer when you send and receive
-You must post photos in the gallery and if you cant please ask your partner to do so.  We all want to    oooh and aaah over the goodies!

Some things to think about:

* I STRONGLY recommend that you have a wist or pinterest for this swap, as it helps out your partner greatly. Please keep this updated and have at least 20 items on it. If you do not have a wist or pinterest, please have another way to show items to your partner that you like (etsy favorites, flickr, etc...)

*If you are sending BAKED GOODS, please only send them if you live in the same country as your partner. We do not need to tempt customs people to keep your package after you have worked so hard on it! Also, if you are sending baked goods you should make this the package that is opened on day 1!

*I highly recommend that you wrap your items in a plastic bag/trash bag/ or some other protective wrapping INSIDE the box you are sending. Things can get wet from rain and/or snow OR things can melt in hot temperatures.

143  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / Hanging Shrine on: June 24, 2013 01:15:34 PM
This was an extra shrine that I made for my partner MaxParadise in the shrine swap.  One of her listed themes was love/romance.  I had this hanging shrine kit from Retro Cafe Art Gallery that I was dying to use so I ordered a few more supplies and here is what I came up with.

144  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / Dia De Los Muertos Shrines on: June 24, 2013 01:13:08 PM
I made these shrines for MaxParadise in the Shrine Swap. I chose her theme of Dia De Los Muertos or Day of the Dead.  I used shrine kits and supplies from Alpha Stamps and Retro Cafe' Art Gallery along with some things pulled from my stash.

Here is the front and back of the main shrine.  If you look closely at the front you can see the brass pistol and mini bottles that I added.

Here are the two mini shrines I made to go along with it.

145  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Supply Swap?? on: June 10, 2013 12:20:26 PM
Would anyone have any interest in a supply swap?  I was thinking the guidelines would be one small crafted item and then 4-5 new/gently used supplies off your partners wishlist?
146  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / DIY Peanut Butter on: June 05, 2013 08:55:27 AM
I had no idea how easy it is to make your own peanut butter at home!  We go through A LOT of it at my house and I'm sure will be going through quite a bit more since it's summer time and the kids are going to be eating at home everyday.  I had been trying to only buy natural PB at the store but it's rather expensive and still has lot's of sugar in it.  So I saw somewhere on the web how to make your own at home.  You do need a food processor which I just happened to get for Christmas this year!  Dump in your peanuts.  I used a mix of unsalted and low salt and added just a bit of sugar and turn that sucker on.  At first it looks like it's just chopping the nuts up like this

But keep going and I promise it will all come together!

I am thinking I should have blended it a bit longer since it was still a bit "gritty" but hey, now I know for next time!

148  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Bee Happy on: May 10, 2013 01:49:17 PM
I claimed gamemom42 for a Bee Hoopla inspired by one made by the fabulous LimeRiot that she had pinned.  While I used the same technique for applying the "hive" pattern as LimeRiot I didn't want to copy it exactly.  We decided upon a different saying and I used a bee charm in place of the embroidered one.

Here is a link to the inspiration
149  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / LEGO Mini Fig Hoop on: May 10, 2013 01:34:39 PM
I created this hoop for texscrapper in the Ongoing Wish Swap.  It seems to have disappeared though  Huh
The tracking shows it as delivered but it's not....

I printed out a LEGO coloring sheet to use as the pattern and attached some real LEGO blocks that my son was nice enough to donate.

I hope it finds it's way to it's new home...
150  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Yoga Inspired Prayer Flag on: May 01, 2013 01:01:46 PM
I made this for my partner in the Magic Yarn Ball Swap.  It was the first prayer flag I have made and since there is more embroidery on it than there was sewing done I am posting it here.... I found a pattern for a lotus blossom online and used that for the embroidered part.  Then I blanket stitched the flower to the main fabric.  My partner requested something that would hold up to outdoor weather so I used plastic letter beads for the word Namaste.  Then I sewed the flag up and viola!

Here is a close up of the embroidery
