4521  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Re: Egg Rolls! on: July 19, 2010 05:37:18 PM
Do they turn out ok if you freeze them after you roll them?

There's only 2 of us, I think having that many would send us into an egg roll coma. Cheesy

Those look SO yummy!

I have never tried to freeze them after I have cooked them.  I know uncooked that the veggie mix does not freeze well at all.  The meat is fine after being frozen and I am not 100% sure about the wrappers before cooking.  We usually have an egg roll party and invite lots of people over to help eat them all!!!

I live directly in civilization and I HATE it! I live in Phoenix and it's so huge and so spread out. I would enjoy living somewhere where it took me 30 minutes to get to town. Alas, I'm stuck in Phoenix until November, then I'm off to Portland! Still city, yes, but a different type of city.

OO lucky you! Portland rocks. If you like to use recycled stuff, you will want to locate SCRAP. It's on Martin Luther King Jr. way or something like that.  I just got to go on a wee trip there and I could live at SCRAP. They have soooo much stuff! and at wicked prices. They have 2 huge baskets marked OPP Other Peoples Pictures. And lots of fabric, and jewelry...and I could go on.  I got a rather huge spool of thin gold wire for 1.40$..well you get the idea...

Morgan you must go to this store and send me goodies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have been wisting things from last years gallery.  I have also talked to my boyfriend and he is going to help me build shelves for my dining room area so I can display more holiday decor!!! So excited

Mmmm egg rolls. I love egg rolls. It's one of my favorite parts of getting chinese takeout. I had never considered making them at home until I met the boy. He made them for me and I am now and forever ruined on all other egg rolls. I won't even eat more than a bite of one that I get from a resturaunt now. The boy makes THE BEST egg rolls ever. I have friends who beg us to make the egg rolls.
The boy always makes the meat. There are no specific measurements for any of the ingredients. Ground pork, fresh ginger, minced garlic, and onion. Fry it all up and toss with a bag or two of coleslaw mix. We like to use the broccoli mix.

You will also need egg roll wrappers. I like the ones the sell at Sprouts.
(These are not them and I complained the whole time)

To seal them you need a mix of flour and water "glue".

Lay your wrapper out, put in some of the meat mixture, use your glue around the edges.

You kind of make like a little envelope looking thing to start.

Then you roll it up tight

Wrapping all the egg rolls it messy and time consuming. If you live where it's warm do not stack the egg rolls on top of each other or they will stick together and the wrappers will tear.

My job is to wrap and the boy frys them up. I am sure you can bake them but I am not sure how to do that. We are unhealthy Smiley

Awesome ornaments.  I did up a batch of the salt dough for the kids a few years ago.  Funny it was for Halloween too!  I am going to have to see if I can find photos!

Back: This is the orginal in case you wondered.  You don't have to put it up, I just wanted to share it anonymously.

The Once in a Blue Moon tree is gorgeous!!!! What is the moon made from?

Atlanta looks so cute in her headbands!!!

I love the pirate fabric used for the shower curtain Smiley

I have a long list too!  Mostly inspired by the previous round.  If I get partnered up with someone who participated last year I will have to make sure not to make them the same things!
