thank you! I just dug it out again to lug another knitting project in Smiley
2  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: Here Fishie Fishie! on: September 22, 2010 05:49:20 PM
Thanks, everyone! Cheesy

I demand action shots! (...I mean, if you have time...) Totally awesome; I want one of these really bad. A friend of mine promised to make me one if I got the yarn for it, but I haven't gotten around to it yet... I like the color combination you chose; very cute.

I won't have action shots until one of my friends has a girl - I have several preggo friends at the moment so I figure statistically speaking, we'll have action shots sooner or later lol.
I made this out of Encore Colorspun self-striping yarn, so that I wouldn't have too many ends to weave in - the solid areas are Galway wool. I think the next one I make I'll try to find some superwash wool so the thing will be machine-washable.

This is a slightly modified Guppie Hat, itself a modification of the infamous Fish Hat hat from Knitty.

thank you! my 4yo niece liked it, so I guess in the long run that's all that matters, right?
6  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: these shoes were made for squishing... on: October 19, 2009 06:35:14 AM
thanks!
I have an only - a boy at that! - so I'm limited in what he'll wear in knitty things. All my friends w/girls get the cool stuff lol.

I can't post the pattern, since I didn't write it... it was in one of the most recent issues of Creative Knitting, though...

8  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / baby bib... on: October 19, 2009 05:20:39 AM
I wanted to experiment with picking up stitches to knit the cable lengthwise, so I doodled this bib:

made out of Dreambaby microfiber yarn.
9  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / cheap alpaca yarn stinks... on: October 19, 2009 05:19:09 AM
I used that cheap Bernat Acrylic/Cotton/Alpaca/Nylon yarn to make this hat for one of my nieces. I botched the cable, but the yarn was impossible to frog. It was a quick knit, but ugh...I won't ever use that yarn again!

10  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / these shoes were made for squishing... on: October 19, 2009 05:14:52 AM
I found the pattern in a Leisure Arts booklet (then again in a recent issue of Creative Knitting).

I made them out of some Louisa Harding ribbon I found - they are soft and squishy and everyone who sees them squeezes and keeps squeezing Cheesy
It's seriously some of the best ribbon yarn I've ever seen.

Anyway, here they are, sized approx. 3mo:

I used some fake pearls and dyed pearl shell flowers for the embellishment.
