1  UNITED STATES / Virginia / Glass blowing on: April 28, 2008 04:11:38 PM
I'm really interested in glassblowing and was wondering if anyone knew of any studios in the Fredericksburg area or within a 30 minute radius?  Also I know there's a lot of glass fusion and bead making in F'burg I just can't find it. anyone know?
thanks alot
2  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / two collages I have done (a bit on the pic heavy side) on: April 11, 2008 05:29:14 PM
I'm a beginning art student and most of the stuff I have done is not presentable but recently I've been getting a little better and I decided to venture out and test the artistic waters
I want your opinions on my stuff!!  Grin

whole thing (the weird ripped purple paper stuff is tissue paper)

closeup of the words I painstakingly searched for in a book and then cut out

closeup of the tag

in the upper left hand corner is a button in case you're wondering what it is

okay so this is my other collage
I got the picture and the words from this cute set of post-it notes my mom bought me

whole thing

closeup of picture (sorry the coloring's off.  the paper under the pic is pink)

closeup of the words in the upper right corner (this pic is more true to color)

closeup of the words, dolphin charm, and paint chip

I hope you guys like these
are they ok?
3  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / my fingers fell off (part three) (gotta love my pictures) on: April 11, 2008 04:57:54 PM
whew...
I'm getting tired of typing. But I know if I don't post all of these right now, they probably won't ever get posted.
so

This is my funky teal wood beads with my lurvly swallow charm

closeup

This one has clear beads and a fun black and white cameo of flowers

closeup

this one is white beads with a woman cameo that came with the flowers cameo and I also added a pink pearl a little ways up but I'm not sure how I feel about it.  What do you guys think?

closeup (I just realized how pointy her nose and chin are)

This one is yet another in the cameo collection but it is extremely tiny

closeup

this one is a purple, yellow, and green one with a matching charm
I made my friend one just like it too.  So now we have big girl versions of best friend necklaces

closeup

and this now concludes my super amazing posting spree
I hope you guys have enjoyed all my stuff
love,
me. miss dangerous
4  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / my fingers still hurt (part two) (also jam packed with delicious pics) on: April 11, 2008 04:45:21 PM
Here I am again.
I didn't want to cram all this into one post so I spread it all out for easier perusing for all.  Don't you love me?

ok
This one is just a pretty blue one with a peace charm like the one in part one except it's bigger

closeup
(sorry it's one of the only blurry pictures I have)

This one is green with some more antique looking charms

closeup (and yes that is yet another bird charm)

Blue one with... BIRD CHARMS!!!

Closeup

This one is very light translucent pink with a key and a lock charm.  This one gave me grief because after I finished it I realized the lock turned sideways.  So I gave my forehead a good hard smack.

closeup

gosh...I really am going to have to do a part three.
I really don't want my posts to get too bulky
Like them?  Think they all look too similar?  cool beans? not cool beans?
5  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / I can't feel my fingers and my eyesight is blurry... (whoa that's a lot of pics) on: April 11, 2008 04:22:50 PM
..but at least I finished all the jewelry ideas I had floating around in my head.

I really hope this is the right place to put this because I looked in the completed works category and there was just a whole bunch of shrinky dink stuff so since my stuff is made of beads, this board seemed the logical choice.
I got all the supplies used to make these at Micheals
Here goes:

This is my favorite.  It's just greenish opaque jade-looking beads and an owl charm

and here's a close up of the charm

This is my calm necklace as I like to call it.  It has peaceful clear beads with random blue splotches inside and the charm says Peace and has a little sparrow on it.  (yes I have a minor obssesion with birds.)

the closeup

This is my fun corally pink necklace with yet another bird charm

closeup

This is the white one with no birds but some fun antique looking charms

closeup

and I think that is enough for one post
I think that I will add a part two and maybe even a part three.
We shall see.
What do you guys think?
good? sellable? funky? would you wear them? do you want to burn them?
