1  Wheels For Henry in Crafty Charitable/Social Causes by KitKnitty on: October 07, 2009 09:09:17 AM

Hello, everybody!

I hope this is the right place to post this.

I'm organizing a fundraiser for my friend, Chloe Eudaly (a single mom, small business owner, and friend/patron to the diy community).  She needs to raise money for a wheelchair van to transport her son to doctor visits, school functions, everywhere really.  The price for such a van?  $45,000.  Amazingly, she's already raised more than half the money and now need just $19,000 more.

That's where we come in.  For a fun little kick-off to the holiday shopping season, I thought a bunch of us Etsy sellers, online retailers, and crafty folks could have a 2 week online bazaar, starting on October 18 and ending at the close of the month.  If this sounds like fun to you, check out our website at www.wheelsforhenry. com and please join us in our efforts!

If you're in the Portland area, Chloe will have a booth at this Sunday's Crafty Wonderland to promote this event.

Thanks so much for your time,
Mary

ps.  Thanks to Kate Bingaman-Burt for the cute graphic that she donated to help us!

3  My Husband's Work Shirt in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by KitKnitty on: June 25, 2008 06:51:51 PM
I had a little bit of time while my toddler napped.  So I turned 2 of my husband's shirts into a cute mini-dress.

4  PJ 4 PS3 (Quick Father's Day Craft) in Completed Projects by KitKnitty on: June 15, 2008 03:28:58 PM
My husband keeps asking me to make covers for his electronics so they don't get too dusty while not in use.  His only requirement is that it be made of some stretchy, lightweight material that won't shed.  He also wants it to be very simple and barely crafted.  So, today I took a plain, grey t-shirt of his that had been mangled by our washing machine to make a cover for his PS3.

He's using his PS3 right now, so I can't show a photo of the item in use, but here's the finished product:

http://www.craftster.org/pictures/showphoto.php?photo=143411

To make it, I just measured 15 inches up from the bottom of the t-shirt (to avoid sewing a hem) and cut across the t-shirt and then I cut the t-shirt piece down to be 26 inches wide.  I cut out two eyes and a mustache, hand-sewed them on to a half of the right side of the t-shirt.  (Or you could use a pre-decorated small t-shirt to turn into a cover.)  Then I pinned the un-hemmed t-shirt edges together, machine-sewed along the edges and I was done.

Even with the "help" of my 3-year-old, it only took about 25 minutes to make the whole thing.  It's not very pretty from a seamstress standpoint, but it looks cute and friendly on the PS3 and my husband loves it.  And now he wants a whole family of covers for all of his technology!  So maybe I'll make a lady face to cover his Wii and he can have a man and Wiife!   Wink
