721  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Vintage Apron Swap - One Day Left To Join! (Sign ups 7/13-7/27, Send by 8/2 on: July 27, 2008 04:48:32 AM
Tomorrow ~ tomorrow...

I'm crossing my fingers in hopes that work doesn't drive elvissatx batty, so she can assign us earlier rather than later. Well, I guess I hope work isn't bad for her in any event... But I do have ulterior motives as well.

=) My husband has the day off on Monday, so he can watch the kids while I wander alone through the fabric store, soaking up ideas.

(Sorry - my first swap so I am being nosy about all this...)

A swap virgin! Woo-hoo! I'm fairly new to swaps myself and just want to warn you, SWAPPING IS ADDICTIVE!   Cheesy

Yeah - I've totally got the "first date" jitters. Or maybe it's blind date jitters? Who will my partner be? Will they like what I make? etc.

It IS addictive, already, and I haven't even started. I keep checking the thread for  posts to respond to, and counting down the days. =)

I can't wait to start deciding who to pair with who.

Just for curiosity's sake... What do you consider when deciding whom to pair with whom? Is it completely random, or do you use info from our questionnaires? (Sorry - my first swap so I am being nosy about all this...)

Is that hand or machine embroidery? It looks so well done... I'm not sure my machine would embroider through suede, but then, I'm not too sure my fingers would either.

=)

I know what you mean! I've been aching to go shopping... I live about 2 miles away from the absolute most awesome fabric store on earth.

Wow. I live in Durham, so it's about 3 hours away. Seems like it might be worth a day trip.

My Mum drives down from Maine to visit once or twice a year, and every time, she goes to Mary Jo's and loads up. Fabrics that cost her $14 a yard at the quilt shop she works at, she can get for $6/yd. There are some seriously good deals on high quality fabrics.

They have a huge collection of vintage reproduction print fabrics, and more batiks than you can imagine. I have a weakness for batiks. I sound like a sales person - I swear I don't work there! But maybe I ought, just for the employee discount!!! Between the discount and the paycheck, I might break even with my crafting. Or not.

=)

You are in luck, I organize some sort of postcard swap every few months.

Yay! I will definitely keep my eyes open for the next one, then! I adore making postcards.

How cool. Love the map covering.

That's awesome! I'm actually working on a magazine purse at the moment... Using all pictures from some travel mags about the Caribbean and Florida. I never thought of weaving it though. I'm making a bunch of the zig zag chains. =(  Wish I'd had your inspiration!!! It would be going much quicker.

LOVE the ad for the bottom of the bag. About how big is it? It looks like a comfortable size... enough to hold the necessities, but not too big to be overwhelming.

Oooh, this looks fun. I'm not eligible yet, as I'm still on my first swap, but hopefully there will be another swap like this soon.
