601  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Re: Snowflake Hat - with instructions on: September 11, 2008 06:59:13 AM
I Love this hat! I am trying to practice/learn knitting, but you craftster folk keep sucking me back into crocheting with the most awesome projects. I have to make one (or two or three) now Cheesy! Atleast it looks like it goes pretty quick. Thanks for sharing the pattern. You did a great job.

It goes VERY fast - it takes under two hours for me to make one, start to finish.

See, this is the issue with trying to draw your brilliant idea yourself. I would really like to be started, but I can't get my design right. Grrr.

My goal is to be embroidering Friday or Saturday.

Ooooh - I feel special! You're actually designing the towels yourself! I'm not that artistically gifted, so you just get vintage designs that I have hoarded.

Just a word of advice so you can learn from my mistakes.

Satin stitch + 2 glasses of wine = bad idea.

Yeah... I can see how that might pose a problem!  Tongue

I had to take a break from towel stitching for a couple days - I had another swap thing going on that I needed to finish up so I can mail it out by Friday.

Back to the towels tomorrow, though! I feel behind! You all have got so much done!

Look at it this way: You are still ahead of your swap partner.  Grin

*Cracks the whip* Well get going, then!  Tongue

Hehe - I keep telling myself... "plenty of time, plenty of time..."

But time is shrinking. Funny how the older I get, the shorter time is, no matter what. Days go by in the time it takes me to blink. My kids are turning into BIG kids, and I'm not sure when that started happening. ~sigh~ Ok that had nothing to do with towels. Sorry!

*Cracks the whip on herself* I have to work tomorrow, but since all I do is watch two babies, I can stitch during nap-times.

Sorry, I meant that I was confused. Any time I start counting stitches, I get that way:) That's why I couldn't begin to write a pattern.....But the pattern is great!!!!

Oh. Ok. Good to know! =)

But seriously - If anyone else uses this pattern and has an idea to make it read better, please let me know. It takes a whole lot more than constructive criticism to offend me! I'd never written a pattern before this, so really I was just writing down what I did every few stitches, then I tried to condense it to a manageable amount of writing/reading when I was done.

Thanks soooooo much! I ended up using this for a hat for a friend. I posted it here....

Thanks again! It was confusing at first, but then it was so fun!!!I ended up using the same stich pattern used on the body of the hat for the matching scarf:)

Thanks again!!!!!!

Wow - that looks great. Ilove the color combo you chose.

As far as the directions go - you said it was confusing at first... Any suggestions on how I could rewrite it more clearly?

Ok, so ya'll tie your threads when your done, but what do you do with them when you start?  Tie it in a knot or work it into your stitches as you go along?  Just wonderin'...

I'm knotting at the start, too.  =)

Love this. Of course, being another sick, sick woman... I just kept coming up with stupid jokes, involving tomato paste.
