31  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Inchie House Swap (Signups closed; Send by 8/23) on: August 09, 2013 08:32:26 AM
*Someone* just got home from running errands and found a most beauteous inchie house in her mailbox, courtesy of LimeRiot! I love it sooo much! It is fantastic and wonderful, and I can't wait to put it together and post pics!

I just finished Limeriot's little house today, and my 16 year old loved it so much she squealed, especially when she saw what inspired it.

I did goatgoddess's house the other day, and rather like the way it turned out.

Now all that's left is to do one for kartiana. I have an inspiration, just not sure it's "legal" for the swap... So looking at some other ideas as well.

Erm, I pre-scored and pre-folded just to make sure the actual houses work the same as the test houses because of the different papers. They are flattening out just fine, so I don't think it will be a problem or ruin anyone's fun. I just didn't want to risk sending a house that was wonky once folded and glued...

Are folks making their houses more artsy?  Or more realistic?

I'm trying to tailor my houses to the recipients. The first one I have finished is definitely a house, but is inspired by something on a pinterest board, and not something you'd likely see someone living in.... at least not in the US! The other two... may be more artsy or more house-ish, depending upon what inspires me.

I have finished my first house! And as much as I wanna pop it in the mail RIGHT NOW... I'm going to wait and send them all out  on the same day. ~le sigh~

So how 'embelished' are you guys making these? I've had some ideas but one of them is mostly flat painted - lots of detail though. I LOVE doing tiny things  Grin the smaller the better!

The one I am currently working on is flat painted and inked. I may use a puff pen to add some dimension to some bits. Haven't really decided yet for my other two.

I did a test run on a little house today...  120 lb water color paper makes a nice solid structure. Very important to lightly score the fold lines, though! I just ran a ballpoint stylus on the inside lines and it folded beautifully. Without scoring, it tried to make a big glommy mess on the fold line.
