71  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Re: silver bracelet and necklace on: January 02, 2005 07:01:59 AM
Well I am very happy to say mom mom LOVED them both. (She opened them this morning...)  Smiley  Um.... the bracelet.... Well I got a lot of help from my Dad on it.  We basically took a piece of silver and shaped it around my sister's wrist. Then we started to pound it with a small hammmer to make it look kind of textured. Then we just did a lot of bending... I really don't know how to put this into words that wouldn't be confusing. We got a lot of help for the idea from an issue of Lapidary Journal though. But it was to make a bracelet with a hinge, but it was straight across and there was no swigle. I probably am confusing you...

ps.. I'm so glad you like it!!  Grin

This is my first posted project... I made this with my dad for my mom's birthday which is tomorrow.

the bracelet from the top

hinge on the bottom

and the necklace

It is an adaptation of a bracelet from lapidary journal... I can't remember which issue though.  What do you think?

77  COOKING / Vegetarian / Vegan / Re: New Vegetarian on: December 30, 2004 02:00:54 PM
get yourself some of the moosewood cookbooks.  the recipes are diverse, easy to prepare, and very tasty!

i'm going on three and a half years vegetarian myself, and i will give you one piece of advice : lay off the cheese.  unfortunately, when i went no meat, i went all dairy.  not healthy.

this time of year soup is great, and there are a million vegetarian soup recipes out there.  check out vegweb.com for some more ideas.  feel free to email me if you want recipes!

I completely agree with getting some Moosewood cookbooks. I am vegetarian and I abslolutely LOVE the recipes in there!  My parents are always ragging on me for not eating meat.....but they really like the recipes.  Wink (they refer to themselves as "flexitarians")
