1  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Harry Potter - Slytherin Altered Notebook (Image Heavy) on: March 23, 2011 03:23:08 PM
Okay so I wanted to make a visual journal but I wanted something Slytherin themed. It's mostly completed but the journey is only beginning because as I add pages, I will probably add more to the cover as well. I also might add a green ribbon with a charm for a bookmark as well.

I designed all of the images used on the front, back, and inside covers.

^---- This is what I started with.

^------- The image I used for the base front cover. The Slytherin crest made to look like crinkled paper. I used Photoshop CS5.

A better picture.

I decided to add some silver foil binding. It's origami paper.

The inside covers. I made this in Photoshop CS5 as well.

Then I laminated the covers using packing tape.

If someone wants an in depth tutorial, I'd be more than happy to post one as the steps are a bit more intricate than this but it's still relatively easy to do.

You can sign up at any time during the month.  Once all of your claims have been received you can request to be removed from the swap and I will issue feedback.

How This Swap Works:
Please READ CAREFULLY! This swap works differently than most!

Try to imagine a chain.  The first link is the first person whose theme list is on page 1 (Person A) (this will be the organizer as will the last wish closing out the swap)
Now, we want to put another link in the chain.  People will read that list and see if they want to make an ATC from that list.  To make a claim, you would post a reply to the thread with an introduction and a theme list of your own. Then, someone else in the swap will make a claim from your list! And they'll post the same introduction with their info, and their list of themes. And so the chain is built, link by link.
When you want to make a claim, you can ONLY pick from the very last theme list in the chain.  You can't pick anyone else in the chain - you can only connect to the very end of the chain, which is that last list posted.

More about claiming:
The first part of your post is the claim you're making, and an introduction for whomever will later claim you. The introduction says
a) that you're claiming Person A (who has the most recent list);
b) what theme of ATC you're going to send them;
c) however many times you have picked someone;
d) how many of your ATCs are in transit to their destination;
e) how many of your ATCs have been received by the people you previously claimed; and
f) what country you live in.
You may also want to note allergies or anything that you would not like to receive. The second part of your post is your list of themes.
Quote
EXAMPLE POST:
I claim Person A for a zombie ATC.  This is my 3rd claim, 2 sent, 1 received.
 I live in Massachusetts, USA.  I would prefer not to receive anything violent, political, or religious.   My themes are:
1)   funny foods
2)   polka dots
3)   monster movies
4)   The letter E
5)   cats

 Be sure to PM the person you have claimed for their address.  Or you can PM the person who claimed you and send them your address.

Friends of Craftster are allowed 10 claims at one time, others are allowed 7.  If this is your first swap, you are only allowed one claim.  When that claim is received you can then claim the number of times you are allowed depending on your membership status.  (Become a Friend of Craftster!)

 If you already have one claim that will be sent out late, please don't claim again until that one is sent out.   You DO NOT need a DC# for this swap, but if your ATC is not received, you will need to resend.

If you are at your limit of claims, you can choose again once one of your partners receives, NOT when you send.
***Do not claim someone unless you can fulfill that wish to a high caliber***
Let's keep the quality of work high!  Do your best, and send something you would like to receive if you were the recipient.

If the thread gets in a rut for a few days/hours, the person who made the last claim should add to their theme list if they can think of anything else, until someone decides to craft for them.

After receiving an ATC, be sure to post a picture of it in the gallery.  You will not receive feedback until you do. But if you lack a camera or scanner, or are having camera/scanner troubles, that won't affect your feedback but you'll need to tell the person who has claimed you right away so that they can take a picture before sending.

Communicate!  Post in the discussion thread! Send PMs whenever you send, receive, or have a question/comment. If you are having issues, please tell the organizer and the person you have claimed. When you send or receive, include both the organizer and the person who is receiving/sending in the PM.
4  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / One Tiny Thing of Final Fantasy Swap on: March 19, 2010 11:23:49 PM
Hey all,

I was thinking of some ideas as I would love to host my first swap soon and I was wondering if anyone might be interested in a Final Fantasy themed swap? With Final Fantasy XIII having just come out here in the US, I am aiming towards hosting the swap this summer. Also as I am not a huge crafter I thought I would have it just be one small item. You can send more if you and your partner agree with it but I thought a small craft would be best as a base.

Is there anyone else interested in this? We have 13 main series games to choose from as well as Kingdom Hearts (if folks would like), Crystal Chronicles, and Tactics. There are also a few games that were Final Fantasy in name only here in the US.

If anyone has any ideas or is willing to help me organize then please let me know b y posting here in this thread.
5  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) / New ATC Artist - Various Themes on: February 23, 2010 09:40:49 PM

This is my first digital trading card so I wanted to do something relatively simple. One of my favorite video games of all time is Final Fantasy VI and my favorite scene is the Opera. This card features Yoshitaka Amano's depiction of Celes (in the yellow) as well as the Playstation Opera cutscene version to the left. The words are the SNES version of the lyrics which are my favorite and I made sure my fave words were in there "I'm the darkness, you're the stars".

This ATC was done for the ATCsForAll Dark Princess Swap. It's is based on the artwork of Mulan looking feminine on one half but with her male half reflected in the sword. I decided to play on the Asian myth of demons on this one and drew this entirely in colored pencil.
6  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Abney Park Skull and Cross-Propeller Necklace on: September 07, 2008 03:56:23 PM
Decided to play with shrink plastic and beads. I'm also working on a charm bracelet of the band members:

7  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / NOW COMPLETED - Clockwork Rosary on: September 05, 2008 10:33:18 AM
So, I've been really into Steampunk lately and although I am not Catholic, I thought I would toy around with making a "clockwork" rosary. I'm using #6-32 nuts for the Aves and gold wire to attach them. I'm not sure what I am going to use for the Paters but I am using a gear from a clock as the charm that brings it together and I am hoping to find some sheet copper to make my crucifix from. I wanted to share my progress and bounce some ideas. Here is the photo of my first decade:

Used the tutorial at:

http://community.livejournal.com/t_shirt_surgery/5104124.html

I made the cincher out of brown pleather. I also got some old clock parts which I used 1/2" gears for the buttons.

The only thing I *might* add is to stencil this in gold on the back:

The lovely gentleman above is Captain Robert, lead singer of Abney Park.
9  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Scrapbooking: Discussion and Questions / Fandom Book (Will Be Updated With New Pages) on: April 30, 2008 02:45:17 PM
Hey all!

Some of you may have seen me mentioning that I was making a "Fandom Book". What this is, is a scrapbook of all things fannish that I love. It'll range from Kingdom Hearts to Newsies, Buffy the Vampire Slayer to Harry Potter. This is still a work in progress  but I have my first pics!

Page #1 (In Progress) Newsies:
10  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Scrapbooking: Discussion and Questions / Collage with Transparent Scrapbook Plasti? on: April 30, 2008 10:10:39 AM
I found a transparent page with text from "The Sun" the turn of the century newspaper and am working on a "Fandom Book". I thought I would use this for a page relating to the movie "Newsies" but I'm not sure what to use to put the photos on the back. I figures I would layer all different pictures from the movie but I thought I would do it to the backside so the words are on top of the photos. Any suggestions?
