2791  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Jar of Mini Whimsies Round 2! (Signups June 10th-June 20th, Sendouts by July 31) on: July 03, 2008 05:09:27 PM

What an adorable wagon-full of kids you have there, love the little wave, what a cutie-pie! Wish I could come along, too, sounds like a hoarder's dream!

The cutie-pie isn't mine.  Mine is over Simon & Garfunkel.  I just got back from this month's adventure and got a bunch of nifty things for not too much. Although I didn't need it, I did find some embroidered linens that I am thinking of making into a purse.  However, I won't mention anything that I got for this swap  Lips sealed.   Hopefully some will fit in my whimsy package.

Off to trade days, hope it's successful.  I know it will be fun! Grin

3 weeks is AWESOME!  I think it would take me a few months (and I would accidentally cut off their heads or something horrible Cheesy).

So right!  Except with my accident-prone nature I would have cut off a vital part of me  Cheesy  Thus, Mr Goldfish gets to keep the things that might cause large hospital bills.

Way to try something new!

simon and garfunkel... NICE! Cheesy

however... is this necessary? http://www.artgarfunkel.com/library.html

Strange... will share w/Mr Goldfish when he is up.  Songbook was gift that he keeps using.

And meanwhile, back at the swap....(sorry couldn't resist)  Do y'all build your jars from the middle or the outside?  I've never done this and am just curious as to others methodology.

Amazing! Shocked  Great job using your childhood rescues!  I am sure that it will become a favored place & memory for your own kids.  I am in the whimsy swap and that is what it reminds me of.  A treasure trove of the unexpected that allows you to share favorite memories with loved ones! Smiley

anitacj - No matter how it turns out to you, it will be great.  We all have our "survivor" poppets, those that aren't quite right.  And in some ways, they are my favorites.  Often we only learn from our mistakes.  Just go out and make it!  Giving up is the only failure.

Ooops sorry for the mini-rant.

I think there was some problems that some people were having when turning and stuffing the the fingers on the Elenore doll. One of the problems was the seams popping. I have the same problem occasionally. If you stuff them with the pipe cleaners, and then either do a ladder stitch to close it up, or an overcast or whip stitch, it doesn't really show all that badly as long as you're using the same color of thread as your fabric. None of us is perfect.

Do you use the pipe cleaner as is or folded in half with the not sharp end out?   Huh  I went through 3 right arms on Spock before getting it to look right and just want to know how y'all do it.

Great job! Grin  I am still intimitated by making clothes and haven't found many cute boys things, but now you have me thinking about my cast-offs!  BTW, sleepyhead pics are cute.
